Glad you are liking them.

I dont want the heads lighter. I really dont want to start adding diferent silvers. It adds a gak load of extra work and takes away from the grim dark. Afraid a no go there.

Still pondering those grenades.

green nades? dark green, wash, spots of light green to pick out detail?

reason why i suggested lighter heads is because thats the "official" color scheme.. its still your army so if you dont want to... its your stuff y'know

Woot! I love seeing more SilverSkulls! I wonder if 'The Gildar Rift' has anything to do with their rise in popularity? (Good book btw)

I think I may have gone too shiny but check out my blog and/or youtube channel (in sig below) for how I picked out some details on my sternguard and vangaurd guys.

I do think you have a bit too much of a monotone thing going, but they do look good! Nice simple style to them and great weapons and poses!

Thank you as always

I went to a tournament sunday and won a spot prize in a game for being the first to kill their opponents main hq. Abbadon in this case

Anyway I got a fail cast templar champion. I dont do templars and the model is pretty crap in my oppinion anyway. However I thought well in the new rules I am gonna want at least one squad that can sit back on the objective without costing a million points due to upgrades.
With that in mind I did some converting and turned the guy into a sergeant with a power weapon "ya gonna want that sword for challenges "

Here he is.

I am happy with the build. He just has a normal power weapon a skull shoulderpad forgeworld backpack and little bits like grenades added. Badass Sergeant

CC?

Ow ps this is my first failcast model. They are fething gak.

I like the wing add-ons except that they look way too thick and heavy.

And the missile pods are hanging out a bit far.

Fair points sick.

A mate also said the wings look to heavy and I guess that could be right. My reason for using the wings from a forgeworld ram are pretty simple though. I hate the standard build of the storm talon I think its way to small. I wanted mine to be bulked up which these wings do nicely they also look as though they could lend protection to the engins.

I do except that a lot of people think they are to thick but I just dont know how I would thin them down and I dont think I would if I could.

The missiles. I played with them a lot before deciding to have them like this. I tried putting them under the jets and the end of and under the wings. Nothing looked right then I tried them where the normal missiles would go and thought it looked really cool and very Orca from command and conquer. How far they stick out was also deliberate as without them being there the talon looks really strange with the big wings on. The wide placed missiles level out the model I think.

Hope that helps you understand the mods a bit better?

I have spent some time starting to paint the model. Its still very early in but here are a couple of pics.

Notice that one wing is still unwashed so you can see the difference the wash makes to the colour of the silver.

CC very welcome along with suggestions of colour placement including where you might add more black.

Scouting Shade

My advice would be a drybrush on the base of light brown, then add some grasses
Just my two cents though

Base is done mate its the same as the marines. Very muddy with light brown edge. I know its plain but maybe when army is done ill add more to it.
