Because it's the only way to make some Eldar units worth their points (if we ignore the cost of the Farseer, whom is obviously free)

Ever played a skilled eldar player?
Ask ANY of my opponents if doom is rubbish haha.

Eldar do S6 spam rather well, and fire dragons make short work of anything S6 can't. And that's turn 1. So no doom turn one, you use guide/fortune to make sure the tanks go, then you use doom to kill the juicy bits inside... I just love fighting purifier spam, and their faces when I tell them what Dark Reapers are after I destroy their razor backs....
