I'd love to have some more of the special chacraters from the novels - stats would be interesting but not essential.

I def need a Amberley to go with Cain

All the main characters from
Night Lords novels /Lord of the Night and Helsreach

I think that the ciaphas cain books said that Cain would use Lord Commissar rules on the tabletops, or to that effect without breaking the fourth wall.

In my dreams, the storyline of the Adeptus Sororitas is advanced. The fate of the lost Abbess is determined one way or another, and the new Abbess gets her seat on the High Lords of Terra.

Perchance to dream...

In my dreams, the Emperor dies, and then nothing happens.

The fanrage of people like Tadashi would be priceless...

Then your games would be set during the later part of the millenium, you wouldn't miss out on anything. There's more to 40K than nids and it would be a way to introduce a new faction without affecting the current timeline. This new faction was eventually defeated and driven back to where they came from though they still pose a threat should they ever return.

Maybe Forgeworld should pick up on this idea. They already produce the Horus Heresy stuff, don't they?

Not really. They produce early marks of armour because people want them. They're not specifically for representing the Heresy as older marks can be used in "modern" marine armies. There are no Heresy era (named) character models for instance. Their character models so far are for marines that appear in FW campaign books.

Yeah, what are demiurgs? Are they like squats or are they something different? They mine, they have advanced technology but I don't know much else about them.

Oh, I thought they had some Horus Heresy dreads or something as part of a cross-company promotion, basically an attempt to establish the HH as a sub-franchise ...

I'm totally not in the loop regarding this, however, I just remembered reading about it.

I vaguely recall GW considering to re-launch squats with a different design that they feel is more fitting for 40k, so maybe this is it? They didn't really advance this project for quite some time, however; iirc they are mentioned only as one of the allies of the Tau Empire so far.

I suppose they might pick this up some day again. Well, or not... there's quite a lot of semi-unfinished stuff floating around.

Lies, the Tyranids are all there is to care about. I honestly just want 6e to be better to the villainous factions than 5e without marginalizing one of them in favour of the others. 5e was way too much "Trolololol Imperium pwnzorz everyone and watch dis one marine kill an entire hive fleet/ork waaagh/chaos warband/eldar warhost with his broken pinkie finger trolololol" for my liking. While it would not be preferable to an actually balanced amount of victories, I guess I would settle for 6e fluff victories being the other seven factions beating up on the Imperium to make them eat their humble pie.

I said the following;

Nothing will change in any major way.

Some war-zones will be closed and others will opened up
We will be told that change/failure/destruction/redemption/salvation is imminent, but not actually quite here yet...."but it is, like, totally around the corner....like really close"
No major issues will be resolved, but a few new ones might pop up.
No races will be defeated. We might be told of a few new ones that are threatening the Imperium. "Yeah, the mysterious XX are moving in the south/north/east/west...we have, like totally, lost contact with some worlds, and we don't know why....aside from the XX thing, that is".

You are welcome to quote me on this as being the case for the next three editions at least.

Well, the nid codex notes that a huge splinter of Hive Fleet leviathan is identified as heading towards Baal.

Fixed that for ya.

Not that I think this'll ever change, mind you. Marines apparently cover 50% of GW's income on this franchise.

You could add: The Primarchs / The Serpent beneath as most recent publication, still 10.000 years old.sightings..

Spoiler:

page 377:

'...is the site of existing clandestine operations, unknown to the rest of the Imperium.'
'xenos?'
'Indeed. The Demiurg are a spacefaring race that rarely enters imperial territory.'
'that at least explains why I never had heard of them.'
'Hostile?'.
'they are technologically advanced but seem to enjoy cordial relationships with other xenos cultures, several of which were eradicated during the great crusade,' the artisan told them.' Principally they are miners and traders.'
.....
' the interior cave systems and caverns of the asteroid house a small host of automated mining machines, harvesting rare and precious metals.'
....
'the Demiurg operate a hidden "shunt network" across our space. They use electromagnetic conveyer stations to propel ressource rich asteroids from the prospect fields to their xeno-clients homeworlds. It takes hundreds of years, but by the time the asteroid arrives in-system, the automated mining machines have excavated and processed the arranged shipment.'
'and no one has yet detected this?'
'We may be the first,' 'Imperial forces can't investigate every chunk of rock floating through the void between star systems.'

They aren't forgotten.
The questions is, will we hear of them in M41/2 ?

According to Tyranid Codex, the first recorded contact was at Tyran in 745.M41, which doesn't give much room to work with. I don't doubt Nids will get new fluff, but to get that new fluff, they'll have to follow the Necron's example and SCREW FLUFF.
