I played Games workshop games since the 90s.. What both warhammer
40k and warhammer fantasy lack these days are BALANCE and Fun factor.. To much Luck of the dice. What Warmachine/hordes do best is giving us a more balanced game that has less to do with luck and more to do with SKILLS if you win or lose.. The
2D6 system that uses the Boost system is much better then
GWs D6 system.. Only way to gett a better chans at sucess in the
D6 system is increasing the number of dice you roll.
Here is an Example..
40k Ballistic skill 4 shoots he hits on 3+ you got and equal % chans of rolling any number on the dice. To offset this you use 10 models and roll 10 dice and its still very unreliable.. then you roll to wound then he rolls to save = 3 dice rolls..
Warmachine/hordes I have a
MAT of 6 my targets defence is 12 I need to roll 6 or more on 2 dices to reach it. You can often boost your base stats by +2 or add a dice to your roll... So lets say I boost my roll with one dice and boost my
MAT(melee skill) by +2.. Now I have
MAT 8 and 3 dices.. I need to get 4 or more on 3 dices so a 1+1+2 will do to hit my target, that means I can only miss if all the 3 dices come up on 1s.. Then you roll to wound in the same way but now your Power on the weapon needs to beat his
ARM and everything that goes over is damage = total of 2 dice rolls less rolls less Random chans/luck. This makes it much less random and much more about your personal skill at moving your army on the board and using the right thing at the right time... As a chess player I prefer SKILLZ over Dumb LUCK any day of the WEEK..
Privateer Press also Updates all its Faction at the same time.. If warmachine gets an uppdate all the armys get something new as we have seen in both the Wrath and domination expansions. NOBODY GETS LEFT BEHIND.. Its a far superior product and I highly recomend you do as the rest of us and move over

. Trust me you wont regreat it

There is the obvious sybiotic relationship, but the models are there to facilitate the game, rather than the game existing to be something to do with the models. Neither is in itself a bad thing, but PP does try to at least force rigor into their games, in part for trying to encourage tournament play quite a bit.
And stuff.
GW has stated countless times that they are a Model miniatures making company first and foremost and a gaming company second. Sadly they use dirty Tactics to try and get people to buy more models like releasing cheasy new codexes to force little childrean to by new armies.
What it comes down to for me personaly is, Me and my gaming group have alot more fun when we play Warmachine/hordes then we have when we play
40k/fantasy. I havent played a
40k game in over 2 years, I still paint a bit of
GW stuff because I like the Lore.. But playing the game is really not that fun atleast not for me. I hate dumb luck and we play very competative, when I lose in Warmachine/hordes my opponent was better/smarter then me or more tactical. It seldom comes down to dumb luck.. But in
40k you often win games just by rolling a lucky roll or using some Unbalanced codex rule.. Crap game is crap game
