Marines are quite tall, the problem that they have is you'll notice that they are all in that same constipated squat pose. If you were to actually make them stand up straight they would be far larger...

Xom finds this thread hilarious!

Well they certainly aren't showing their actual height of ten feet, so yeah, need to be bigger.

The podcast: http://podcast.games-workshop.com/mp3/DP4_JesGoodwin.mp3
Near the last quarter of the podcast, To quote Jes, after Jervis says "I don't think most people realize quite how big a space marine would be." Jes replies "I say 7 to 7'6" because as you read the novels they get progressively bigger..." (comments on a life-sized SM he drew and that it's not the height that makes them so large, it's their broad physique.) ..."They really don't need to be any bigger than that (7-7.5 feet) you could probably get away with them being 6.5 feet tall and still they'd be incredibly scary."
That 7 feet is including their armor.
But what does Jes know, right? The size of SMs scales with the devotion of the person describing them.
Wow, I was about to let off a similar rant, but then noticed you beating me to it.

I can still add a picture of that lifesize drawing, though!

Spoiler:

The scale is a bit flawed as it starts as 2 instead of 1 (something Jes commented about in the podcast as well), so yeah, that guy ends at about 7 feet.

And if you consider that all Marine minis are a little crouched, I think their height is good the way it is. Just imagine they'd be even bigger if they would stand straight.

Hehe - good point. Why is it that the Imperium's finest always seem to need a poo...?

Thanks for the JG pic, Lynata. Although it's interesting to note that the marine is just under 8 feet tall in power armour, so I'm not sure how much of the height 'issue' would be rectified if only space marines would stop pooing in their armour!

For me, I still think they're a touch on the stumpy side...
