I'll play in the same places I play now... at home, and at tournaments and gaming clubs. I haven't played in a store since 2003.

And I can hold the product in my hand when it arrives. I don't need to weight it before I buy it.

GW's stated goal for the regionalisation was to keep everyone buying from within their own region. That obviously keeps the Oz market in house, but also makes it easier for GW to see where the money is coming from in other regions as well.

Of course, the fact that it is one-sided (US customers can't buy from Europe, but anyone can still buy from the US) makes it all a little pointless... although I would be curious to know how much the banning of webcarts affected overseas sales for US stores.

I was particularly amused by GW's claims that the discouraging people from buying overseas is good because those overseas businesses do nothing to grow the local hobby. I wonder if they have any idea how much money Maelstrom and CMON have poured into sponsorship of Australian gaming events in the last few years... something that GW no longer do themselves?

Again, many of us have either rented our own space or play in each others basement.

And many times, unless your buying finecrap, you dont need to hold it in your hands.

Half a week! What a dreadful experience that must have been for you.

On the one hand we've got one poster complaining they held back the entire order because one item was back ordered. He yells at them.

On the other hand we have another poster complaining they part shipped his order because some items were back ordered..

I wasn't so much mad at them holding back the order, it was that whole part where they didn't tell me they were going to do that, and the part where they advertised the product as in stock when it wasn't.

If it was something I really wanted that I couldn't get elsewhere, I'd have no problem waiting for the back order to be filled. But in this case it was a little pot of paint holding up a large order of other paint, and I needed those other paints right away. I would have been perfectly happy with them sending out the back ordered item at a later time after already sending the rest.

Thank you for that catch! I missed it.

I didn't like the way I was "attacked" when I pointed out problems with orders I had made.
If something isn't right, I'd prefer to try to take feedback given and try to correct the issue.
Not shoot the messenger. Silly me.

And unless you have a site to suggest, don't jump in here to bash other people's choices.

You need to cut back on telling people what to cut back on.

Heck, there's no problem with being ticked off about that.

I didn't bash anyone's choices. I just pointed out that two guys are ticked off for opposite things. And made fun of having to wait a whole half a week! (I'm still giggling about that)

Maybe if folks remembered we are just a bunch of nobodies playing with plastic soldiers, they wouldn't get het up over a few delays. I mean yelling at people over a little pot of paint. Stamping your foot over waiting half a week! (snort!) If we want our plastic crack at big discounts, deal with the fact that these stores don't have huge warehouses full of stock. They buy it in and ship it off to order. If you want a warehouse full of stock, buy direct from GW. There's no excuses for poor service, but maybe we should collectively get a better grasp on the situation.

On a lighter note, good luck with the search. Having your purchasing choices limited arbitrarily sucks.

The professional retailer makes sure that his policies on out of stocks are clearly visible on the website so that people know what will happen ahead of time. There are three standard ways of dealing with it (refund, hold back, or part ship and ship the balance later) and whichever one you choose, some people would prefer one of the other two options... so springing it on them unannounced is pretty much guaranteed to annoy them.

right, my first order had zero indication anything was back-ordered. when i check it online it showed everything was in stock per their website, their order confirmation and my receipt. it wasnt untill i recieved my order that i knew anything was back-ordered. they paid for shipping of the second item and i could have cared less.

it wasnt untill the second order where an item that they said over the phone was IN STOCK did i have an issue with it. i knew my order was on back order but the timefarme i was given was wrong, 1 day became 1 week and it was going to be atleast 2 weeks before my regular GW stock item would come in.

it should not take 2 weeks for the war store to get product and ship it out if it is GW. they are a day away for shipping UPS and/or fed ex and even if they did only a single weekly order they are looking at 1 week tops. if i could get a truck from MA to PA in less than 2 days then the war store can get is product quicker when its a few hours from its distributor.
