Personally I felt that blood elves were pushing it a bit in Frozen Throne. I was down with them at first, broody and pissed off that their race had been destroyed (which is fair enough).
But when that dude decided to summon his entire race into hell...I think the phrase is "jumped the shark".

Maybe if they'd have kept the Blood Elves as renegades who were pissed off at the Alliance for failing to defend their homeland, it would have been better. Also for a race that was completely wiped out there seem to be an awful lot of them.

Well, there's a two-fold way to explain this:
#1 the blood elves are addicted to magic -> daemonic "Fel magic" is just a more powerful version of this drug -> daemon blood contains Fel magic -> most daemons reside in Outland -> Outland = junky paradise
#2 coincidentally, Fel magic also drives you mad, so Kael wasn't really right in his head as he made this call anyways

Testify wrote:Also for a race that was completely wiped out there seem to be an awful lot of them.
Yeah, one of the bigger retcons when you keep the P&P material in mind - before the writers at Blizz just said "feth it, let's all just disregard that stuff - how many of our players care about consistency anyways".

Hum. Why does everyone hate the Pandaren? Everyone was okay with the Taurens being ''Native American Bull People'', why is ''Chinese Panda People'' seen as so clashing with the IP?

Genuine question, I've not touched WoW for 5 years, so I couldn't care less. I'm just curious...

Well for one, it could be the placement.

In Warcraft you find the Taurens on another continent that has creatures like Centars and massive plains. The Tuaren seem like a race that could actually be seen living in a land like that (depending on what they eat) and their culture seems fitting to the story.

The Chinese Pandas when first encountered is (as Testify kindly put it) in hell. The giant chinese Pandas look VERY OUT OF PLACE next to the desolate and hot waste lands filled with demons and Orcs.

I didnt mind the addition of the hero in said lvl, but hearing their addition in WoW made me roll my eyes. (Actually a lot of things did that... )

That'd be like Glasgow upping sticks and relocating to central Afghanistan. It's just odd, and no-one opposed this or thought it a bad idea? Not a single one of those guys thought "actually i don't want to lead my wife and children into hell, I think I'll stay on this farm thanks"?

That would be the enclaves of still Alliance allied High Elves in Loch Modan and east of Aerie Peak. edit - Oh and formerly in Eastern Plaguelands, but I think they been changed since Cata to forsworn.

As to Pandarans, they had that magical mist hiding them for eons, it is only because that has been damaged by internal issues that the Alliance and Horde have found the lands.

Aye, Azeroth has continued to move forward, what was WC3 moved straight into WoW.

There is no divergance, Blizz has never suggested anything other than WoW is Azeroth. I really do not see any big reset back to the end of WC3, even if WoW eventually dies.

More likely they'll go forward like they did between WC2 and WC3.

In Alliance campaign. there should be a plot branch that will lead to a mission that if you want Blood elves back. you must follow. however, doing so has a HUGE expenses! Knights may leave the alliance and create a crusade against the Blood elves. or a leader of knight will challenge player a duel. if player ignores Blood elves (or choose to eliminate them entirely), the rest of them will either fully give into the Forsaken, even a living survivor will aid those undead armed forces. one way or another. or ... they will fully integrate themselves with the Horde. replacing (or adding) unit lists and spells options to the Horde (including every races that's already joined the Horde first)

The idea of high elf enclaves is actually somewhat older than WoW and first popped up in the Pen&Paper RPG that has now been deemed "uncanonical".
Said RPG also had the Scarlet Crusade first, in a way more "grey" and less flying rodent gak insane version than the enemy faction in the MMO.

A lot of stuff from the RPG found its way into WoW, but sadly most of it got twisted and turned. The blood elves were originally supposed to hate orcs, too - because, frankly, the latter burned down their forests, and have allied with trolls. The whole pact in Burning Crusade didn't make a lot of sense and the developers themselves openly stated they only did this because they felt the Horde needed "more sex appeal" as all the kids were playing skimpy night elves.

For me, it's mostly because pandaren are so damn fluffy it's not fun anymore. Tauren at least still look somewhat feral and have that whole "minotaur" theme going for them. Pandaren are just furries. This is also what made me dislike the new worgen race, by the way - just compare to how they look now to their original version, both in visual design as well as background!

That I will agree with you on Lynata. I'n not directly opposed to the Pandaren in any sense of the word, but they are not helping themselves with designs like this.

Although on saying that I have no issue, will probably have a female Pandaren. However I know it really rubs some folks up the wrong way, so being maybe a little overly sexualised was a bad call.

I think my face hurts from trying to express the rage I feel upon looking at that.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Well, female cows don't exactly have "breasts" either ...

It's also nothing new, tho. Look at the Worgen back then and now. Hell, look at the night elves in WC3 and now.

I have played Beta, and can confirm aye they do. Basically she is very accurate, add clothes and thats the look. Its basically a modification of the Dwarf frame, with the same chest bounce when they run.

Thats also why after MoP comes out, Dwarves will be the first of the original races to get upgraded Avatars to the new poly count.

Seeing the ideas that have materialized into content and the direction the story has gone tells me (in my opinion) of a terribly misguided development staff.

I can only estimate downhill. Slowly and painfully.
