In 1992, my Nephews got a home computer, because their dad was the manager at a Radio Shack. They tried to sell me on getting one, but after hearing their lame attempts to tell me how awesome it was to have your own computer, and trying but failing to explain to me exactly what they world wide web was, I blew off the entire idea. That was until games like Diablo, Masters of Magic and Civilization 2 came out. However, I still waited until 1998 to get my own computer, and until 2003 to get one that was connected to the internet. Now I am just as hopelessly hooked on it as everyone else. @&$(&!%&!!!

Diablo 2 was the big one for us

We were in college and had dial up. We ended up at the computer lab from open until close, installing Diablo on every computer and using the University broadband to waste an entire semester playing that game.

Security was lax in 2000-2001...

Ah life before cell phones. When we had pagers and had to use pay phones.

Or life without texting, back when you actually had to talk to people. What an over rated concept.

That's classic, too. I don't know if any of the folks posting in this thread were usenet regulars, though.

To be fair, I only used Usenet to get more software for my BBS. I had it backwards. I was like, "Wow, this Internet thing will be great for enhancing my users' experience on my BBS." How wrong I was... lol

When you think about it, we live in, and have lived through, exciting times. We've literally experienced a revolution in human communication.

That's kind of amazing, really. We'll all be able to tell our grandkids about what life was like before the internet. If humanity survives that long, of course.

I remember fire. I will admit, I was wrong about it just being a fad.

Poser. I used fire back when it was still just lightning and dry brush.
