By which it also means that I could qualify, pay my admission price, get to my first round of invitational games at FoB, and get disqualified before round one even begins because my opponent yells "WYSIWYG Foul!"
That's a tough break. Being a horde army, and having only slugga/choppa boyz.
120 of them to be exact.
Looks like I'm not coming.
Good luck all.
=(

You could always run them...as slugga boyz. While this may not be as "competitive" right now, they're still perfectly legal to be run as they are. Expecting an event/everyone else to allow you to break the rules that everyone else has to adhere to is a bit selfish, at least imo.

WYSWYG means things have to be modelled correctly, and is more of a relevant topic to conversions and such. What you're asking to is proxy, similar to "can my tactical marines be assault marines" or "can i just say all of my terminators have th/ss, even though i modelled with stormbolter/pf".

I see your point 100% and I empathize heavily, but I hope you understand why it is important for us to stick by our rulings.

That said, I heavily doubt that a player at your FLGS will enforce this against you, especially if a good portion of your models are in the process of being changed over. He can see that you're trying and that the edition is new and will likely understand.

If you do qualify then you have all of Aug-Sept and half of Oct. to get the rest of the models WYSIWYG. That should give you more than enough time.

I hope to still see you at the qualifiers and finals, go to your store tomorrow and throw some dice, it is unlikely someone is going to 'stick it to you,' at a qualifier so early in the edition...

Duke

Thanks all for your advice. And yes, I agree that expecting someone else to let me "break the rules" is selfish.
And thank you Duke for showing consideration and responding to me.
I'm going to skip the event, and just keep playing friendly games.
Good luck to you all at the tourney, and maybe I'll run in to some of you for some time.

Thank YOU for being a good sport, making a mature and responsible choice, and accepting criticism/feedback which was other than you might have hoped, with courtesy and without anger. That's not as common as it should be on ye old internets. Tip of the hat to you, sir.

Agreed, well handled. Hopefully we can see you at the Convention in Denver (Oct 26-28) Players like you are who we want at Feast of Blades. Look at our Open GT which is a much more relaxed/ Causal weekend of games compared to our Invitational which is more competitive. here is a Link http://www.feastofblades.com/p/40k-events-info.html

You'll be glad to know that the last tournament to qualify in UT at Hastur hobbies got cancelled the night before the event. I wouldn't care overmuch had I not jumped through all manner of hoops to clear it with the wife, work and cranking out several models to have my army completely painted.

Shoddily done.
