I'm..not sure how to respond. I thought the point of this thread and what it linked to was the idea of randomness becoming absurd in the supposed 7th edition.

Randomness is so tactical, I just can't wait. If anything, I say we should roll to see if we can roll. Also random deployment(using deepstrike rules in deployment zone) and random winning, scraping VP and objectives altogether. Tactical cinematic fun.

Random Charge range could be due to any numbers of factors. They're on a battlefield, stuffs blowing up, people are dying. Also the turns are supposed to be simultaneous, and the game is abstract. On the board its static miniatures. In the game its warriors and soldiers moving around. The 10 orcs charging 5 marines who roll a 5, when you needed a 6 coulbe be that the lead orks charge too soon, got to far ahead, and realized the boyz weren't backing them up, and then realized its better to fight another day and hightailed it back to the rest of the mob. It would have made more sense if you roll 2d6 and if failed move the larger of the 2 dice to actually represent a failed charge.

And like I said the rest of the random crap is crap, except for maybe battlefield terrain placement. Traits, terrain, and the mystery objectives is utter crap.
