well i just got off the phone with GW support for a replacement for huron and after they sent me one with some miscasts the guy on the line said himself he'd look through the bits before he sent em to make sure there arent any miscasts. now i dont know if this is true or not but its a nice thought. plus im getting some nice parts for conversions even if they have miscasts to them.

im not saying that failcast is good im just saying GW understands that there are major problems with them and they're quick to respond

For what GW is charging for these kits mistakes like this should NEVER get packaged and sent to a customer. GW makes a huge deal about having the finest miniatures in the industry, tags them with a premium price, and they send garbage like that to a customer? Inexcusable. A premium price should come with a premium model, not something thats "fixable".

I can't agree more with this post.
Yeah, you can fix some of the mistakes, but you shouldn't have to based on the money they charge.
I understand noone/company is perfect, but that's just, well damn piss poor. That piece in the OP should've
never made it to a customer's hands.

Here's it on the figure after it re-warped into (out of) place.

Tragically the side view is not much worse than some of the metal ones I have.

Thanks for sharing - hope it goes well.

I have seen a few 3d-printed alternatives out there, but nothing that I have really liked.

On another note; I wonder if they are pushing the BS kits out with little quality control to meet the anticipated demand due to Tau allies in sixth....

hmmm....

It was part of a larger finecast release earlier this month. Tau had previously (to my knowledge) not had any finecast releases and these were replacing old metal minis and bits that were becoming incredibly hard to find.

Have you removed the guns from the sprue? Sometimes Finecast looks bent when it's on-sprue but then goes back into shape once cut off.

Failing that... try heating it up with a hairdryer and bending it.

The metal ones were worse and harder to repair. That said - forgeworld makes a really great broadside for about $5 more. I'm not accounting for shipping here, but if you wanted to do some slick tau with better quality then you actually can't beat Forgeworld.

Perhaps for you but I had no issues when I built my 9 broadsides and their rail guns.

I had issues with their ankle joints which were plastic.

Looking through the range of new finecast models there's a few things that have long narrow gun barrels, more than so tha the broadsides, I wonder how bad they'll all be.

I'm avoiding finecast unless I really need a model until I hear someone say "omg! They fixed all the flaws with finecast!".

UPDATE: the replacement kit is EVEN WORSE. Holy Science, this thing is bad. Pics to follow shortly.

I advise against buying an upgrade kit. Hammerheads are looking to be a good alternative to broadside suits simply because they will look better.

FINAL UPDATE

Post hairdryer. Actually not bad. Had to heat it up, bend it into position and immediately hit it with cold water. We'll see if it warps back over time. A LOT less miscasts on this one... other suit had misaligned vents on the jetpack covers, too.

Why didn't they just make the parts plastic? It looks like a terrible thing to make from resin, as you want them dead straight so the model doesn't look funny and resin is never going to come out well for that. Even metal seems like a better proposition because even though it might be wonky, you at least know it's going to stay in the position you bend it to.

Sometimes GW make choices that baffle the mind.

I'd keep calling them, before you know it you will have a pile of railguns

I purchased a single Finecast model and it had a defective part. Contacted GW customer service and they sent me a new part. This made me happy considering the model was $25 but overall I am not impressed with Finecast. Big fail.

I just got a Legionairre model. It was near flawless(only flassh and mold vent problems)
So far the biggest problem i have had with finecast is the fact that the swords bend to easily.

Step one: buy an ork battlewagon,
Step two: use as zzap guns
Step three: sell on ebay as a "Kustom ZZap Kannon

But in all seriousness, I would call them and tell them you got a broke as feth broadside weapon sprue, and they should send you a new one that hopefully is hand-picked. When I called them in the past, they were really good with the phone line, got a predator from them when my predator i bought was only missing the top gun bits
