That's loose pocket change by the standards of real rich people.
??? Read that again. wiki wrote:Ultra high net worth individuals (UHNWIs) are individuals or families who have, by one definition, at least US$30 million in investable assets,[2] or with a disposable income of more than US$20 million.[19] The exact dividing lines depend on how a bank wishes to segment its market; for example, the term "very high net worth individuals"[20] can refer to those with assets between $5 million and $50 million, with ultra high net worth individuals only those with above $50 million.

That kind of money could single-handedly devalue the dollar to catastrophically low levels.

Sure, it'd be tragic if all your debt suddenly lost a load of its value.

hyper-inflation!=inflation.
For the past 3 years, our inflation has been >5% while our interest payments were about 1.5%. Profit.
Inflation is historically how governments deal with debt. Hyper inflation is very, very rare.

To top that there are people from Vancouver, British Columbia who come here by the fething BUS loads to go shopping without taxes.

No, it's a statement of basic reality. People pay as little tax as they can get away with.
You can argue some people should pay more tax, and that laws should be changed to make them pay more tax, and to better enforce them paying that tax, and I'd agree with you, but there's no point pretending there's some unique property in one class of people for avoiding tax.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

You're conflating state sales taxes with national income tax. sebster wrote:People pay as little tax as they can get away with.
That's not the tax evasion I was talking about. There's a difference between wanting to pay the correct amount of tax and wanting to avoid paying altogether.

The government sets the rate, the taxpayers attempt to use the tax system to pay as little or as much as they want. The correct amount of tax, in this context, is a balance between these two forces.
