Ya, it appears the bit in the codex about jetbikes and jump infantry is completely irrelevant now since you can't embark on a night scythe (though you clearly could in fifth) and no JI or JB can take it as a transport. And other than warriors, no other unit can utilize it's transport capacity to the fullest.
Which I still find odd that it can "transport" more warriors than the ghost ark, but still not a full size squad.

Has GW ever made sense in Rules writing? Really?
I belive the Ghost Ark/Night Scythe debate is set on units of 10 Warriors. In that instance, you can have a ghost ark used to full potential. If you want extras eg LanceTeks, you must sacrafice some warriors.
If you wish for Lances without losing Warriors, take a Scythe. It's cheaper cos it dosen't heal your units.
Although, what with the NS being Drop-off only, I think Ghost Ark > Night Scythe

Don't forget Deathmarks can take NS as well, which allows for scatter free placement of them.

Indeed, but it's still limited to the NS movement and further limited by snapshots only on moves over 24".
While still good, I think I'd take them as DS instead, especially with veil tek. Automatically Appended Next Post: IHateNids wrote:Has GW ever made sense in Rules writing? Really?

Yes and no. I get the restriction of the transport vehicles, from a balance perspective. And the other rules were legit in 5th but no so now, but they still had to write them (considering how long you can imagine the codex was in trial prior to coming out).

There's no option to take a NS as not a dedicated transport, sadly.
Thats's what i figured but how do marines take empty drop pods then? Just take one as dedicated and not put the squad inside?

Yup, nothing says the unit has to be in it, they're just the only ones that can START the game in it.

So, you could get cheap(ish) air superiority by buying NSs for every unit tht can take them, but not start any of the units in them.
In my usual 1750, thats 4 flyers for 475 points: three Night. one Doom

This doesn't explain the jetbike part, but if your squad in the dedicated transport is led by a Destoryer Lord, the jump infantry capacity is not irrelevant.

Oh ya, that's true. Ok, so ONE ji model can go in it.

One instance where it can occur is in the Spearhead expansion wherein dedicated transports are considered Heavy Support for Spearheads and several Spearheads allow you to take a vehicle with transport capacity and "a unit that can embark inside." Here the jetbikes/jump infantry inside a vehicle trick could actually see some use.

Good to know. I'd forgotten about spearhead stuff.

Is is good stuff coming out! Any way, what do people think of that as an actual tactic, to give the destroyers a really fast deployment to anywhere on the battle feels and still be able to shoot, creating a kind if infiltrating destroyer, dividing your enemies fire base between your foot sloggers and your destroyers. Also isn't there a game where you can use fa as scoring units?
