It must, somehow, retain the Flyer, Hover 'type' on some level.
Yes, of course it does. But you ignore that type, and treat it as a skimmer for the period that the rules tell you to treat it as a skimmer.

Except:
Hover Strike: ... If it does so, it changes its type to Skimmer until the start of its next Movement phase and cannot move...
Right, but as I said earlier I'm not talking about hover strike, as that is a bit more defined than just "Hover". Automatically Appended Next Post: insaniak wrote:Kevin949 wrote:Besides, it doesn't say it is changed to a skimmer, simply that it's treated as one.

Ok, but wouldn't it then be 'Flyer, Hover, Fast, Skimmer'? Ugh, I don't know. Personally, I'd allow them to skyfire if the situation came up. It won't for me (stupid necrons and their non-hover flyers) but I play against storm eagles and the like every now and then.

The Way I see it; When a Flyer with Hover chooses to use the Hover they are then "Treated exactly as a fast skimmer".
Since You are now, for all intents and purposes, a Fast skimmer; you have to ask yourself:
Do fast skimmers have the option to gain skyfire?
That is also the only rule in the flyers entry that doesn't rely on them Zooming in the first place.

No, because it's not all of those things. A Flyer with Hover is a Flyer that can Hover. While it is hovering, it is treated as a Skimmer.

That bit of info is wrong, as I have already pointed out; A storm Talon using a hoverstrike is in no way a Flyer for that turn.
