No, the point of board games is not to be exercises in dice rolling devoid of player skill. The best ones aren't. Definitely going to be giving a pass on this.

FFG is known for making great games, however. Has anyone played their version of Talisman? Is it the same as the old one?

I have played their Talisman, but not the older one.

The guys I play with say it's similar to the older Talisman in most ways.

The expansions make the game very fun. I've found that you "level" faster using the expansions, gaining equipment and Red/Blue stats much more quickly than you would with just the basic game board. It makes a 4-player game faster, but an 8 player game is still a pain in the ass...

Is it co-op or is it compeditive?

If it's Talisman-like - probably competitive...

I'm not so sure it will be for sale at Gen Con, the article just mentions playing a demo game and says the game wont be on sale till Q4. I know FFG always sells stuff early for gen con but is it generally that early?

3rd edition Talisman was the same where the expansions made the game faster: better toys, bigger monsters, and access to a talisman by beating a level 6 boss. Of course, basic board lent the possibility of having a wizard character with the Finger of Death go to the warlock quickly, kill an opponent, toss a different spell instead of the FoD and then go kill the dragon. You could actually win basic Talisman in about 10 minutes. The possibility is rare, but I actually had a friend do it. We considered banning the finger from killing the dragon, but realized that was such an odd shot it shouldn't happen again. I'm hoping FFG stayed away from that kind of OP thing though.

Well, I was almost interested...but having busts instead of actual miniatures makes it a pass.

I would go as far as to guess those busts with a decent paint job will likely be selling for stupid coin on ebay

I haven't seen a list yet but we know there will be ten and I have a good guess on nine of them.

First Zombicide, now this... this fall looks like a good time for board games, and a bad time for my wallet!

Maybe I missed it, but what scale are the busts? Are they 28MM? If so I will buy it and convert them into regular pieces, if not... then pass.

Not sure. Not enough pictures floating around. Base on the current Talisman game and assuming that the total height of these is on par with the height of the Talisman figures, it looks like 54mm or slightly larger scale busts.

I hope it's like talisman and has 90% useless characters you can be!

Will definitely check this out at Gencon, I imagine I'll be hanging around the FFG booth alot.

OH COME ON!!!!!! I saw that and had a mixed reaction. At first I was like, OH FFS.... NO MORE OF THIS! but then I realized: COLLETOR EDITION MINIES! Instead we have just these silly busts.... I'm suspicious I may not spend on this, even though I had fun playing with a copy of Talisman and that I don't have a copy of talisman.

Mmmm The first new Sister of Battle Mini in what? 12 years?... 15? I'll buy it, I think, lol.

While I love games that come with miniatures, we all know that FFG's figures aren't quite as good as GW's ones, and let's face it, there's not really anything new here that couldn't use an existing model to sub in. I'm happy with the busts - they might make some nice and somewhat unique display pieces.

So that just leaves the last slot. Probably a Tech Priest like you said, but I'm hoping for that Grey Knight Terminator luring in the bottom right corner. I would like a nice bust of that!
