While names do change in spelling over time, I don't think that's what we're seeing here. We're seeing people try to be cute with their kids' names. Something their kid will have to live with for the rest of their lives. I don't care for it. My GF is a teacher and sees this all the time. Right now, there is a female vollyball player on the US team at the Olympics whose name is Destinee Hooker. That's the second best Stripper Name I've ever heard. The best was Daily Joy. fething parents, man.

you may want to consider the parents' psychology. They may have settled for Jordan, and ended up with a girl, and then wanted to feminize a name that they felt was too masculine. I'm suspicious this is what happened here.

I went to school with a Theresa Green, Crystal Dawn, Richard Head and a Randy (Randall) Buga (actually pronounced like "Booga" not "bugger").
This was back in the 80s.
Crystal's parents WERE hippies.
Theresa's parents were just cruel.
Richard went into politics.
Randy went back to the USA (his dad was in the military doing stuff over here for a few years).

When I applied to the temp contract (via an agency) for the job I worked at, I wrote my real name as:
'Richard Jones BSc' (as I have a bachelor of science in Comp Sci), hoping it would aid in my job getting.
Either way, I got the job, but the agencies automated data capture system messed up, and for the duration of the temp contract I was actually named:
'Richard BSc'
Seriously, it was on my payslips and everything...

Unisex names always threw me off a little bit when I was a kid. I have known many male and female Jordans. But some others always caused me problems.
Growing up in Grade School/High School I had a lot of females named Ashley in my class and a lot of males named Kyle. When I met the opposite sex counterparts of these names, hilarity ensued. More so with the name Ashley.....

First, hopefully you misspelled the fifth word of your OP on misspelled names on purpose.
Second, as one of those people with misspelled names I did in fact think my parents were idiots for most of my life. Or a least one of them. My father (who has a degree in aerospace engineering) routinely spells time, "tym" and other gems. So with some logic I thought my mother passed out and he filled out the form by himself. I'm supported by the fact my brothers name's are Adam and Caine; and my name is not Abel or Seth. When I was about 13 I found a stack of postcards from Mauston, Minnesota and I discovered my parents aren't idiots, they just liked a place in a state I've never been to so much they never mentioned it.
Could be worse Top and I nearly died laughing when we got assignment orders for a new troop whose first name was gak head. Thank god she never showed up.
Kid_Kyoto wrote:Quick question, Heidi stripper name or not?
I've always thought of it as more of an attractive barmaids name, like the girl on St. Pauli Girl bottles. In the states it can tend to be a stage name.
