Dakka Jets for me, in 4 games have earned back 2 to 3 times their points in Kills.

and.... Scythe wing is the worst thing to ever happen to orks and we are probably one of the better armies at dealing with it. Pure Ugly....

Godless-Mimicry wrote:balsak, if yer meta is light on competitive stuff then that is fine for ye, but you can't make the assumption that that is the case everywhere. It boggles my mind that anyone can not see flyers as that great, but whatever, if you don't play competitively maybe the fact you don't look for these things normally means you don't see it. I know plenty of people who are convinced the worst units in the game are awesome despite the fact that they never work for them. Such seems to be the ropes of casual gaming often enough.

Anyway the point I'm making is that whatever the deal over there where you are, flyers are good, even if ye don't like them. Mathhammer is still statistics and averages so ignoring it as if it never happens is again not good advice to give, because even in a game of chance, things generally even out over time; that is the purpose. Pay attention over your next few games and you might notice. Unless the OP plays strictly casual as you do then he is likely to run into multiple flyers as they are the power combos of 6th, and so he needs to be prepared.

It's not like a DakkaJet is anything to be laughed at anyway; for 130pts you can hit everything at BS3 and with 9 S6 shots, 18 if you Waaaggh!

Who said I was not competitive. I think competitive has alot of different meanings. Am I cookie cutter? No! Do I have to use the same units as you to be competitive? No!

Please explain to me why Planes are so great. Please!

I must be stupid or something because I am not seeing it. What I see is a new fad with new rules that people want to try to exploit. With their prices and abilities I don't see the point of them other then that. Yes statisics do work out generally, but like you said after the next few games. Gets me back to the game of chance. One game might be great and dice are rolling the best they could ever roll. But yet a few games later the dice just do nothing. That is the average sure. But to think it works out like that every game is wildly wrong. The number crunchers like yourself play the game by that. That was the point I was trying to make. You expect averages and stats to work out everygame the same. I should have 66% chance to do this or 80% chance to win that combat. When you and I both know that is not how it goes. I prefer to play what will happen will happen with the dice but let my tactics and planning help me win.

So please tell me how I am not competitive?

Fliers are so good becauce 1. 18-36 movement plus you can shoot 4 weapons 2. Enemies are hitting them on 6's

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive.
Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

I get that but most fliers don't have 4 weapons. So that really is not that big of a deal. Sure unless they have skyfire then they hit normally. But the fliers don't really put out enough firepower to worry about IMHO. Except for the Stormraven.

Besides we don't know what else is going to get skyfire. We don't know what missle launchers are going to get flakk missles yet so I am sure there will be alot of models out there to deal with those fliers. I still don't see them as a game changer. Like I have said before, one is nice for some support for the reasons given, but massing them up is pointless.

Am I allowed to interject.

Flyers for most armies, if not really all, are hard to shot down currently. So currently they great for that reason, though it shouldn't be over done and hopefully it will be temporary.

Can we add vendetta to stormraven to the list of dead shooty flyers, vendetta being much more of threat as it is dirt cheap. Stormtalon deserves an honourable mention, despite its paper thin armour and silly rules.

The other flyer which I am pretty sure will last the next wave is the humble night scythe, dropping a unit on objective/a unit with antitank/troop gun anyway is a nasty flyer. Hopefully it will be easier to shoot down but still tactically it is very sound.

The other flyers a bit of fad. Ork flyers, getting back to this thread, are good, but they are all of their points and I can foresee that having a mere 3 flyers will not be enough if you are going to bring flyers.
