Fafnir wrote:Grey Knight Grand Masters are kind of lackluster in comparison to most of the SCs, and the Librarian lost a lot of its value with 6th edition, but my vote has to go to the Brotherhood Champion.

The Brotherhood Champion has the statline and rules to make it a fun and effective Elite unit. Hell, he's even got a solid price-point... but he's in the heavily crowded GK HQ slot.

He's the kind of unit that I'd love to convert something special for, and looks like he'd be a lot of fun to play, but he just doesn't belong in any GK list of any kind, and only because of his terrible placement on the FoC. With some of the rules changes of 6th edition, he's really gained a lot more tools to help him truly shine, but that FoC placement still relegates him to uselessness.

Grand masters are the kind of HQ that a list needs to be built around, which doesn't make them horrible, but they become a little too niche in most cases as a result. Considering the SC GMs are at minimum 25 points, (and he's not an IC,) more than a vanilla GM, (which I usually never upgrade anything anyway,) GMs fit a very nice role in hybrid style lists that depend on winning from a more unpredictable, tactical standpoint. I think they're perfectly fine, myself.

With the exception of the psychic hood changes, I think, especially with access to Divination, librarians are all the more nasty in 6e. Sure, you can't roll around giving your Stormravens 3+ cover all of the time, but with the flyer changes... meh, it doesn't really matter that much. They're a lynchpin in any list and from my experiences in both editions always earn their points.

The brotherhood champion I'm not so sure on. I haven't used one in 6th edition, but with I think... all of the scenarios giving extra victory points for "Slay the Warlord", BCs are probably in the top ranking for HQs to challenge... well pretty much anything. He'll laugh in the face of the guard sergeant and have no problems taking out any eternal warrior HQ, either. So, I don't know.

Anyway, my answer is probably either the brother captain or Castellan. If I can pay a paltry amount of points to get a HQ that's just... better, I will. lol

I've found quite a lot of success with a herald with palanquin, breath and noxious touch in a big unit of plaguebearers.

Master of the Forge... conversion beam is cool and all... plus helping out cover is great but I just can't seem to want to put them in a list. Dope model though.

Considering that the orbital bombardment is a once per battle ability I'd say you hit with it only if the enemy is a massive horde army

I want my chaplain to have an AP 2 crozius

There are a lot of ways to use him. Since 6th I've been fielding him more than ever which is very nice since I love the model.

I shall rule the world someday utilizing my cuteness. And I already have one minion to help me do it!

Of course it makes sense. When there are a bunch of BDSM clowns doing Olympic gymnast routines throughout your unit, while also cutting off heads, you tend to get a bit distracted.

I use him alot, he has quite a bit of kills under hit belt, everyone is fearful of him. If your army isnt based aroud CC, he can be another great model for tank busting.

I'd like to second the Vanilla cannoness, it's a waste of points when we can take Uriah Jacobus or Saint Celestine instead. Having only one of our HQs as an actual power armored sister is kinda dumb too.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
