I mean, seriously are there people spending money for these press-moulded "sculpts"?

What is press-molding and why is it so apparently awful?

in this case, it's where people use laser engraving to cut an intricate pattern into a sheet of metal, then push green stuff into it to replicate the pattern. It's why sculpts from Scibor and Hightech are full of raised edges and details (like the shoulderpads and armour detail on this guy)

It's considered kind of lazy as it lets you make intricate details with little effort and fill up space on otherwise bland models without having to go to the effort "proper" sculptors have to.

Personally I don't mind it too much, but I only have one model from these people and shaving off all those raised details to replace them with something I prefer is an utter pain.

Huh. There's a guy over at Warseer that has a female Space Marine army called the Black Widows which uses the Web motif. Wonder if this was a commission?

He posted here too, but his fluff horrors couldn;t be handled by the average gw fan and he was flamed away into lurking...

I was wondering the same thing on if its the same guy. Would be cool if it was. Though from what I remember his conversions looked better then these models

Because that's the MO of HiTech minis - make a great looking sculpt with interesting detail and then just take it that one step too far, be it in overcrowding, putting too many doo-dads or in this case adding an unnecessary detail like boobs poking out of the armour where her neck is.

remember in the future boobs will be huge,

and she'll only be borrowing the armour from a man anyway, where else will they go ?

(I joke, I joke, detail is fun, escaping boobs are just tacky)

The only thing I was going to point out was that for a woman, she certainly handles a huge sword. Is it still considered overcompensation, or is she announcing something else?

I'm having a hard time understanding what people see in these models. They just look so busy that it's distracting.

Plus termie chick with her boobs out is just a little ridiculous looking

Same here, but I think it's because Hi-Tech's minis (many of which I think are kind of cool) tend to be photographed with a very busy background. Also very simialr poses, so I think I blank out on details a bit.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.
