I'm going to pester you one more time. If you had the chance, would you take those dominions with plasma guns instead of melta guns?
That's a tough one. Ignoring the fact that it would be completely out of character with a Sisters army, I think (and clearly this is the weaselly answer) that it depends on the squad.

Dominions can be taken in squads of 5-10 women. If you take fewer than 10 you get 2 special weapons, but if you take the full 10, then you get 4. Their act of faith lets them twin-link their shooting attacks and usually works on a roll of 4+ (3+ if someone in the squad has died).

For the smaller squads, I think melta guns are still the way to go since those squads are usually used to destroy some initial vehicle target. In a hypothetical situation where you're shooting a Dreadought, two twin-linked Plasmas rapid firing will average the same amount of pens as two meltas (~ 0.6) but the melta wins out thanks to AP1. (Obviously if you're w/in 6" the meltas will clean house.)

On the larger units 4 potentially twin-linked Plasma guns are just nuts. I don't think I'd hesitate to play with one of those, add in a combi-plasma on the Veteran and you could have 10 plasma shots. I'd probably also pay 20pts for the wargear item that lets me re-roll faith checks to give me good odds to get my twin-link off. That'll pretty much kill whatever it hits.

well, and that's my concern with melta. Melta has a terribly short range for a squad that's not THAT difficult to take down. I feel like you'd be guaranteed to give your opponent a turn to handle them before they got close enough to be their most useful. With plasma on the other hand, you have the 30" threat range of the single tap, which makes me think you'd be more likely to actually get at least one shot off with them.

It is a hypothetical question. I think the answer to that one is I would take the Plasmas. I think there is enough Melta in the rest of the army, and with the new rules for wrecking vehicles (i.e. cannot be assaulted afterward) making sure to wreck a vehicle deep in an enemy deployment zone is not as big of a deal anymore.

That's probably more of a problem for IG than Sisters since we have the Emperor's Holy 3+ Save. It's fairly rare that the Dominions are wiped out without firing a shot. It happened in this game for one of the squads, but they were failing Ld checks like a boss so it's a bit of an outlier in that respect.

We know that. We're just speaking hypothetically.
