Hmmm... not sure what I think of it.

From what I saw, Storm of Magic was a real flop for fantasy... given that it took what people were upset with (crazy monsters getting better and better with each release while the old ones stayed mediocre, and crazy magic) and made it even worse.

Will see if this happens for allies, too... GW knows how to alienate their fanbase like no other company I've ever seen (justification: "They were on their way out, anyway").

Yes, this is griping sorry! But the Storm of Magic comparison hurts...

While Storms of Magic might not have made WHFB fans happy, I know that it generally drew more outside interest to the WHFB... new fans, not old ones has been GW's strategy for a while.

The problem with storm of magic was that it was far to specific, not to mention most WHFB could be done without needing an apocalypse sort of variant yet.

Sure apocalypse type games were fun, but most wanted something for like the old stuff that got canned, Regiments of Renown, dogs of war.

The monstrous arcanum however was a bigger hit, as it didn't focus so much on magic as usable monsters, not to mention provided decent options for dex's.

Hopefully this will be nothing like Storm, other than being a big release. I'm hoping that it will just be a book, much like an of the codex's, but with lots of small forces. For example, 1 HQ, 1 troop and possibly another choice. An example would be the Harlequins, perhaps the solitaire acting as an HQ, letting you take a troop as allies for allot of forces. Then the stealer hybrids, with a cult leader and some stealer hybrids as troops. Lots of forces which are just enough for allies but not enough on there own to fill a full codex.

If they're doing an allies codex, they could use this as an opportunities to do something really cool, like mercenaries. A squad here and there of ultimate bad@ $es kind of like the Dogs Of War, back in the day.

So you could easily sci-fi up some Lizardmen Saurus Warriors and have yourself some human-hating allies? Sounds like a fun conversion project...

OH, I'm already converting up an army of them tbh, I've got tarellians, vampyres and loxatl so far.

The jokes on me because I wanted to create a completely unique army.
Looks like GW have screwed that idea over :/

so many cool things could be done with kroot allies. Hope the new dex/ supplements do the carniverous beasts justice.
