Because we Americans have no idea how the economy actually functions other than "It's the president's fault."

No... it's Bush's fault

People aren't angry that they are buying milk and gas. What they are angry about is that Canadians are going into the Cosco, emptying ENTIRE SHELVES, and then going up to either give it to their friends or sell it back, because that's cheaper than buying it up in Canada. This particular Cosco is also, if my source is to be beleived, in a small town; it's their grocery store.

The problem isn't that they are buying our stuff, it's that they are buying our stuff and not letting us have any of it.

This was the Bellingham, WA costco, right? I buy my gas there every week. And I'm not even sorry.

I've never once noticed empty shelves, nor have I ever seen lineups that are longer than any other Costco. (But I hate waiting in line for gas and seeing someone in an SUV with Canadian plates opening up the rear hatch and spend the next 45 minutes filling up six 15-gallon jerry cans)

My understanding is that this is all just demagoguery as part of a publicity stunt, because cities like Bellingham & Blaine are planning to build new train stations and want Canada to pay for them.

If you’ve ever shopped at Costco on a weekend, you know it’s like an endurance sport, with tough parking, packed crowds and competitive lines for those mini-sausage samples.

But shoppers at the Bellingham Costco have an additional challenge: Canadians. It seems that our northern neighbors have been flocking to the store for cheaper American milk and gas, and that’s making some locals grouchy.

A Facebook page has emerged to vent the grumpiness, called “Bellingham Costco needs a special time just for Americans.” With more than 3,300 likes so far, it features rants about crowds, parking and rude Canadians who buy up all the milk (by the double-gallon) and take forever in the gas line (with their extra gas cans). And there’s at least one photo of a bad British Columbian park job that committed the sin of hogging up two spaces.

This is so biased. So Cadians come to USA to "steal" milk and gas, seriously.
Its similar to the bull here in Ireland that us foreigners get.
Everyone here (well the irish anyway) believe that foreigners come into their country to steal jobs and money, while in fact we take the jobs that they are too damn lazy to take.

There must be another side to it, i wonder how many of these 3k people have actually had any problems with canadians.

“Costco should make a special time during the day that is American members only,” wrote the page’s administrator, who described local Costco shoppers as “Founding customers.”

Yea why not a "White people only" section too while youre at it!

Also: who the Hell buys milk from the US? It's the same price in Canada, and isn't full of bovine growth hormones.

Actually, you're thinking of Tim Horton's!

The only way to stop Canadians dead in their tracks with a hockey rink is to first charge them stupid amounts of money to get in to watch sub-par hockey, while then charging $10 for a beer!
...Oh wait, that's just how you stop Torontonians!

Never mind!

Not according to this. Grocery prices are overall 20% cheaper in the US. Milk is damn near half the price in the US.

Lines up with everything my father tells me, whose been living in the Vancouver (Towassen) area for the last 4 years. Pays significantly higher income taxes, and then pays through the nose for every day items like groceries. All so he can continue to use his US health care down in Washington.

Gasoline garbage bags sounds like an indy band name, though I can't quite place the genre.

The genre is garage crap, like most indie bands.

Putting gas in them sounds like a great idea though, can't see it doing anything like maybe eating through the bag or something. Don't know why people bother buying proper containers for it.

I just love the idea of going through a border check point with those.

"What's in the bags?"

"Oh nothing really...."

"Perkins do you smell gasoline?"

"I do indeed Smith"

"Sir we're going to have to open your bags..."

and hilarity ensues.
