I've seen alot of abuse hurled in the way of dreads "cant tarpit!" "cant melee!" etc, im just sick of it. My plasmacannon dread still works, walking about lobbing shots or podding down to catch terminators OOC (out of cover, I don't care if theres no dakka abbreviation for it- there should be!) CSM has oblits- where else would you go for walking plasmacannons? deepstriking too.

I dunno I still see dreads having a place in 6th edition, but I have not gotten a chance to throw my AV 13 marines on the table yet.
Dreads without support are the same as any vehicle without other vehicles working in the same range to support it. If only only vehicle is in melta range guess who is going to get melta-ed?
I just see two Ironclad dreadnaughts dropping into an enemy deployment zone first turn with other assault elements being there to threaten the next turn forcing your opponent to make tough decisions.
Anyway for the hell brute I can see it being a tough CC support/ranged fire support, especially for my nurgle army. Since they tend to be more defensive having long range options will be handy. However to know for sure I will need to see what else is in the list. Who knows might be a dread transport option.

Nah its not the ironclads.
Its the fact that their drop pods have locator bacon attached. Firstly, bacon is delicious. Don't let marines keep their bacon. Secondly, their pods that are in reserve, and more importantly their MM/ HF speeders in reserve are going to deepstrike around those ironclads.
So- shoot the AV13 melta/flamer wielding dreads, or shoot the pods that are bringing down more melta's and flamers in the form of speeders.

I'd also say that the thing is too stupid and unreliable to trust it with an expensive gun and an important role like light transport killer and flier killer. It doesn't feel right, I guess for 130-150 or so, you've got something equivilant to an unreliable rifleman with a fist. That doesnt seem awful, but you've got to make sure you are putting all that to work, and the dumb crazed dice rolls makes that really awkward.
If there's a way to move your assault brute forward fast, there might be a place for it as a way to mow down units with unwieldy or to act as a hammer for grabber units with its d3 rampage attacks. And if the reapers or butcher are strong maybe it will find a place as saturation for a zilla list, but I get the feeling there will be more reliable and more point streamlined options!
AFAIK, the Hellbrute doesn't have the Crazed rule so its actually reliable.

It does have crazed, however its better in the fact that you don't shoot your own units in the face (provided that theirs some juicy enemy squads in range) Still, it needs to be cheaper than a SM dread or have a special rule ( GW will probably give it unholy vigor as its 120 pts) or its just a waste. Also, you can take dreadclaws, not that they'll be usable in tournaments as their IA rules, and $100 a piece... Automatically Appended Next Post: whats the chances GW will release a plastic claw with WD rules?

The Dreadclaw is a distinct possability, although they could pass over it. But I would say the chance of WD rules of somekind is going to be fairly low, at least for a year. They might as well just put it in the bloody codex in that case.
