I could be wrong but I think Ghille is of Scottish origin, something to do with hunters or wardens or both. but no there's no special American word for it

Stick a couple of "z's" in there and take out the "h", maybe change the "i" to a "y" and go nuts

That's not American, and I am doubtful people who talk like that would know what a ghille is.
