I hope he's talking about the original.
That remake was bloody terrible.
I mean, where is castle Wolfenstein?
In fact, there isn't even a castle in the game except for that 1 level.

Good times, when we wanted to do a big team battle, people had to bring TVs and consoles together.
8 players on the first floor
8 players in the basement.
And so much talk gak hahaha
Good times indeed.

There's really no good way to compare these two games, so Hitler wins.
Brother SRM wrote:All these people saying Goldeneye haven't played it since it was the big thing. Going back and playing that game is a goddamn nightmare; the controls for shooters have changed so much that it's pretty much impossible to go back. It was amazing at the time, but it's somehow more dated than Wolfenstein 3D.
I agree that it's a hard game to go back to, but Goldeneye: Source fixed it. And, of course, there's always Timesplitters.

I went with Halo only because it actually had a story which is why I play games.
I love the hell out of Halo's story.

How did the controls infuriate you? There were a dozen different control schemes, and one of them was identical to the default Halo controls.

If you play video games primarily for the story lines then I feel so bad for you there's so many better storytelling mediums than video-games (books, movies, play-writes, etc) what makes video games unique over other mediums is you can interact with it as such that should be any
gamer's primary concern when it comes to judging the quality of a video game.

Besides, what better story than "Kill Hitler". Kill the Devil, which has been raised as part of a plot by Nazis to harness his power? Part of the plot involved fusing Hitler with some of his unholy power. Sadly, the Devil woke up before they could get his heart to him, which is a pity because a battle against Satan-Hitler (or rather, Beliar-Hitler) would be friggen hardcore. ...If someone actually got what I'm talking about, I'll be fething amazed.

Video games are simply another way of telling the story, they arnt unique over the other ones. I love reading books and watching movies.
I dont understand why you "feel bad" as I love video games for said reason. Halo is an awsome setting and I love it, I enjoyed the hell out of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, I love the Command and Conquer series, I love Starcraft, I love Dawn of War (which got me into 40K) etc....
Even games like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor Allied Assault I enjoy if I feel the mission is worthwhile.
The original Wolfenstein I didnt enjoy that much, however Goldeneye (my first FPS) I loved because the missions felt important

Well this is easy.
Halo is a better game.
Wolfenstein was way more influential to the industry.
Also, I'm with Galdos here. If I'm playing a game that doesn't let me powergame the hell out of it, I'm in there purely for the story... or loot.

I'm assuming you haven't played a PC game recently? Every PC game that isn't a super duper lazy console port has customizable keybindings. Even so, some console FPS games (such as the Halo series) have different control schemes.

I disagree, there's many games that don't even have a storyline such as tron, tetris, pac man, etc, also why don't you think video-games are unique over other mediums?

And these are all games from the 70s and early 80s, before the medium had developed to form narratives. Video games are another means to tell a story, but being interactive means they need to approach telling a story in a different way.

I also dont enjoy playing those games.
What I meant by that is that they all tell a story, some video games do it better. Maybe I miss spoke when I said that they arnt unique but that doesnt mean that they do a bad job at it.
