Hi Dakka sorry for the absence, uni reading lists were released early and since late July I haven't stopped. I actually finished my Vindicator right at the end of July but have been too busy to post photos. Hopefully I may be able to attempt something new during mid-semester break which begins next week - fingers crossed!
Here is the final result for my very first tank, please comment and criticize as you see fit.
Regards
P.S.
Also since the rumours of the new C:
SM codex were floating around for the last several weeks, I kept hearing repeatedly that
SM Captains were going to lose the mounted assault rule, thereby invalidating my efforts in building a Ultramarines bike force. Fortunately that no longer seems to be the case but in the interim I moved into an idea I've been contemplating for months - building a small(ISH) Deathwatch force. Having been a fan of many different chapters and colour schemes I originally settled on Ultras for a couple of reasons; they were apparently easy to paint, I didn't know about Forge World (and their transfers and brass sheets) since I loved the fluff for Raven Guard and I didn't fancy free handing Every. Single. Shoulder. Pad.
This way I can still have my models in badass black armour, and with the codex supplements perhaps use the Raven Guard tactics (they are black after all!

) - and still ally in Ultras or whatever is feasible with points.
AND, the new release kits are the perfect excuse to get stuck into a project to offset time painting bikes (which is incredibly long even with an airbrush) I'm currently looking at constructing the following;
3 Tactical Squads
2 Sternguard Squads
1 Vanguard Veteran Squad
2 Terminator Squads tactical/Assault)
3 Drop-pods
I'm going to aim for painting 40+ chapters in this project for variety and fluffiness, hence I've been scrounging eBay and have already collected most of my Terminators. I plan to add Lysander, Asterion Moloc, Tyberos, Culln and Lugft Huron (with slight conversions for
WYSIWYG) so I can also legitimately use the rules for said character if possible. It'll be expensive as hell just for those 5 guys, but you can probably guess the direction I'm heading. This force will attempt to look unique AND cohesive on the tabletop at the same time. This should be quite the challenge. And so...
