Heavy stranglethorn cannon work well, too, especially against a large horde army.

CC Fexes are just too slow for my liking - apart from very elite armies they can be tarpitted quite easily. Mycetic spore in the backfield is the only way to go for these.

They are only 1" slower than average now then anyother foot unit (except Hormagaunts). The nerfing of fleet and the longer charge range makes thier speed more comparable.

And Fexstar made of Dakka Fexes are nearly impossible to tarpit. With overwatch and the addition of Fear (not a lot of folks outside of other Nids have Fearless or ATSKNF on tarpit units) most tarpits will really struggle to last more than 2 rounds of combat with a DakkafexStar.

But like I said, I still prefer to go with the spore pods, mostly becasue I run with a single SK and not a fexstar.

Outside of a spore I thought the CC versions were too slow in 5th as well! I was leaning towards a shooty fex at the end of 5th anyway and their increasd utility has lead to some more conversion work for me.

They are a bit faster in 6th with the 2D6 charge range. Having move through cover and being able to get save from area terrain work well for CC fex. Nevermind they are one of only 3 models in our entire army that can get assault grenades.

I will say that I think they need to be dual ScyTal or dual TL Dev. Other weapon combinations are a little too expensive for what they do.

I'm going to try the horrible mix of TL Devs and Crushing Claws.
It's going to be interesting at least.

Go luck with that. I was tempted to try it until I crunched some numbers.

The stonecrusher is starting to look good to me though.

As for an FAQ change. How many folks like me got casught mid conversion on a quad gun? I was using Fex carapaces and stranglethorn cannons.

It will make a nice objective marker I guess.

Read the latest FAQ. No emplaced guns or gun emplacements.

I'm going to build a skyfire platform for my Nids instead to see if that works. Deply as forward as possible, stick hive guard, biovores etc on there and benefit from 4+ invul save. Not sure how it will work in practice, but worth an experiment I feel.
