I have at probably 200-250 dice, all told. Mostly assorted d6, but I've got plenty of d20 for Infinity/D&D and everything from d4 to percent dice for RPGs (or avoiding agonizing over minor decisions with pretty much any number of options ).

Specifically, I've got the 6d6 (1/2" across) and scatter die that came in AoBR, a backup scatter die that I engraved from a blank die, 100 tiny (1cm across) d6 I tacked on to an order of cheap crap from China for when I need massive rolls, one snazzy marbled metallic green RPG set I got for my fiance (which, sadly, never got much use :(), and 1lb of assorted other dice - I bought the "pound of dice" deal from RPGshop, if memory serves, which gave me all the variety I could need, in terms of both type and color.

There's pretty much no roll I can imagine encountering that I couldn't make without reusing dice. Only exception I can think of would be the melee attacks of one Green Tide Apocalypse formation charging a second one, both being strung out across the whole table, such that all models were in fighting range. Considering the odds of that ever happening, I think I'm pretty much set for life, unless I decide to start matching dice colors to army color schemes.

Until my friend and I split Dark Vengeance, I have never, in my ~20 years of playing 40k, owned dice or a set of templates.

Now I own the DV templates and the tiny pack of dice it had. Stingy bastards didn't even put a scatter die in.

I'm now hunting down a few cubes of red and black chessex D6s to match my Behemoth Nids and World Eaters (sort of, they're red and brass).

I'll bite, why haven't you owned dice? Is this a boast? You used your opponent's dice?

My opponents have always been the same people. And we all just used my brothers pool of dice, which was accumulated from starter sets he and I bought, with the exception of one friend who has his own, and when I play him, we just use his dice.

The benefit is we never have to worry about someone cheating, since if they're cheating with weighted dice, everyone is. The fact that only two people in our group own dice has never been an issue.
