We all have them. They're sort of necessary for what we do when we head down to the hobby shop to throw down for Warhammer. So which ones are your favorites? How big is your collection? Do you carry them all with you?

I'm talking about dice, and I feel like a lot of gamers are a bit obsessive about them. I don't even remember the first set I got. I know I like dice, though. I currently have about 120, most of which are d6's and d10's(from my White Wolf days). Included among them are a number of the smaller d6's, which also come in really handy for Shadowrun. I've got one block of the Chessex Strawberry speckled, and a bunch of the black and red GW 6-siders. Funny story: a few weeks ago I was getting ready to play Warmachine, and my opponent asked if I could switch dice(I was using the strawberry dice at the time). I said sure, no problem, and right afterward it hit me, and I asked if he was colorblind. It turns out he was, making the red-and-green dice I'd been getting ready to use a really terrible choice. I switched to the black GW ones, and had a great game.

Some of my favorite dice include the Mouse Guard dice I got in the box set last Christmas, as well as 4 d6 made out of chokecherry burl from Artisan Dice. They had a really successful Kickstarter earlier this year, and make a great product. I carry all of them with me, because I don't see any need to bother with separating my wargaming dice from my roleplaying dice. As for luck, I roll like poo no matter what dice I use(even my opponents'), so I really don't buy into the Gamescience hype. My Chessex dice are just fine for me, thanks.

Worst streak ever: rolling 14 attacks with Kromac the Ravenous, needing 6's to hit, and making maybe two of those 14 attacks.

I have 2 colors of chessex dice.
Black with Green Dots, red with gold. And one lonely white Die.
When I bring The White Dice Out it always rolls High. It is an old man proving himself against all the other young and upcoming dice.

I currently have only 3 sets. All are Chessex, although I do plan to branch out.

My first set is a set of teal transparent 12mm that my wife picked out to match her Dark Elves army.

The second set is a smoke transparent set that I use for general purpose gaming.

The third set is a marbled red with gold pips that matches my High Elves army.

I do need to pick up a set for my Red Hunters army, though I may get custom ones that have the =][= symbol as the 1's.

And of course my dice are only to be handled by myself and my family, no outsiders, and every army must have a matched dice set.

I also once took a dice that cost me a game and set it on fire in front of the other 35, so that they would know what waits for them should they fail me as he did.

LOL! I'd like to play a game against you! That's absolutely hilarious ahaha, my dice cost me games too often. I play Salamanderd and have been tempted to buy very showy green dice in hopes they would be good luck

Until my friend and I split Dark Vengeance, I have never, in my ~20 years of playing 40k, owned dice or a set of templates.

Now I own the DV templates and the tiny pack of dice it had. Stingy bastards didn't even put a scatter die in.

I'm now hunting down a few cubes of red and black chessex D6s to match my Behemoth Nids and World Eaters (sort of, they're red and brass).

1. Holy crap DV doesn't even have a scatter die? Scumbag move by GW to sell another dice set.

2. GW dice are terrible. Not in quality, but in performance. They are against you, much like GW upper management.

3. Chessex dice are not perfect, but the price and selection are amazing.

Soon I'll have 36 pretty DCM dice, but until then I have a hodge podge of GW, Monopoly, Risk, and assorted other board game dice.

Oh, and the Munitorium big gun dice. Found them in England for 4 pound in a random store, had to buy them and then make sure I didn't lose them over the next 2 months of my trip.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Have a set for each army. That would be 5 plus several for armies I no longer own and all the die that have come out of starter sets for 4 editions.

Way too many for me. Bought the chessex ones in green and black. Then wanted larger normal die so got 12 clown puke. Then got the smaller cp ones to match. Then got green and gold mixed larger. Then the smaller. Then forgot my dice at home so I bought a smaller green and gold mix. Then found my dice bag in my car after the match. So probably around 200 ish. I swap colors and sizes all the time so it's fun for me before packing up for a match

I have 3 cubes. Mostly because you need that many when you play orks.
Red, blue, and black. Black are hopeless and roll low. Red I can't use cause everyone else has red. And Blue roll average (good for saves, bad for shooting).

The black cube is missing one. The guy I was playing against had a mixed assortment and when I pointed out that he may have one of mine (since I'm missing one, we're playing in a hall with noone else around (i.e. wide open space, completely vacant of dice), he had ones of the same type, and he has no idea how many he should have) he flatly denied it and walked away.

I have about 80 d6 in various sizes (half are 12mm, a bit under half are 16mm, and the remaining 6 are 36mm), 20 or so d20s, about a dozen of each of d12s, 10s and 8s.

I had some d4s, but they got tossed out as they always become inadvertant caltrops and they aren't used in any game I play.

d6 are for WHFB, d8-12 are for Tomorrow's War and d20s are for infinity.

I have some blue and gold chessex and some gw dice. Now kind of off topic but I saw a few "worst role ever" comments and thought I would add mine. This may sound unbelivable but chowderhead can back me up on this as he was there. I was using my GW starter set dice and rolled 11 1's in a row, no joke. I think I rolled 3, 4, and 4. Every One was a 1! The only reason I didnt throw those dice out was for leadership tests

Large and growing larger. I think I'm more addicted to dice than mini's. When you play orks though you need bucket loads so no problem.

Currently I'm running one of each color of the 16mm chessex vortex dice, the bright ones. I toss 60 to 80 dice at you then you better be wearing some sunglasses cuase there's a lot of color coming your way.

Ps beware my pink vortex ones there deadly

Own hundreds, if not a couple thousand. Each army has at least 2 cubes of smaller D6s and a good number of larger ones for wound counters etc. Bought those fancy GW ones in a lasgun ammo pack. Bought the red ones that came with Inquisitor. Bought those black ones that have bullet holes for pips. Still have my Jam! dice from 2nd edition. Got some pretty spiffy ones that were called "Crystal dice" if I remember correctly. Plus tons more of just random dice. Use to work at a comic/gaming store for in store credit and often times dice were the only thing on the shelf I cared about.
Oh, also have around 30 of these tiny tiny dice I got from buying this out of print pirate game. A large metal D20 that doesn't actually get used because it would destroy whatever surface you roll it on and these dice that came in a crappy Pirates of the Caribbean game that look like they are made of stone and have a jolly roger on one side.

I think my dice collection grows faster than my mini collection!

It is small though.

I have the dice from the 3rd edition starter and one of the old GW packs. These are all in a small "Really Useful Box" (brand name plastic box).
1 cube of the current GW dice, in random assortment (used for when a squad has a special weapon and so forth)
2 cubes of chessex small d6. One is orange and something, other is bright pink.
2 sets of polyhedral, one grey smoked, one pink (same as d6).
Few extra d20s and d8s
2 chessex sets of d10 in different colors (for RT, DW, DH)
Mantic splat dice from the KS
1 set of the GW vehicle damage dice
Dice from the Leviathans box

That all is being added to with more KS dice from projects and what not. It all is nicely organized on top on a drawer ready for battle. I need to expand into some bigger D6s for my marine armies, color matched of course.

I probably have 200+!! Ha! and they are all D6. Sort of went through a phase where I had to buy a new cube like once a month.

I have 2 sets of Chessex small D6 (one yellow with black dots and the other is speckeled green with black dots)
I have 2 sets of Chessex large D6 (one is blue speckeled with white dots and the other is a set of the 2011 Feast of Blades dice, hte 6 is a FoB logo)
I then have all the different "special" GW dice they were selling last year and a few various other solid color cubes. Probably like 8 cubes all toghether there....
I also bought the Gamers edition of the 6e BRB and got the special edition red dice it came with and then bought the regular black dice that came out after the release. Along those same lines I also have the vehicle dice, and the mysterious objectice dice.

I have 2 bags I use for the dice, one for all the GW dice and the other for all the Chessex dice.

Wow no scatter, that is a jerkville move, and i should know cause i live in the next town over loserville .

My dice collection was pretty massive before we had a warp storm localized in my garage. Lets just say it took me 6 or so years to speak to my relatives that made them disappear. My favorite part of the collection was the 30+ retired casino craps dice, those suckers were 2 bucks a piece. Was always fun to see the look on peoples faces when i used them. I actually haven't played a game since that day ..................

It's true.

His Sternguard has the worst luck I've ever seen. And I saw 800 points of Paladins scatter off a board and die in a 1k tournament.

Also, I have around 30 Chessex dice, and I'm getting 18 Dakka ones soon.

Got two small baggies of randomly assorted dice from home mixed with the remnants of the Battle For Macragge dice, three things of clear chessex dice (green, orange and red), a black and sliver scatter dice I found on the floor of the FLGS back home, and a cube of red GW brand dice.

My favorites are the red GW dice because they actually like my army for once. The Broadsides who chained spaghetti'd from them in a row of previous games would like to disagree though

Worst performance I've gotten were from the random assortment dice during the failed seventeen out of eighteen times I played Chaos Marines back in 2008

I have about 100+ dice. I have a multi colored GW cube, a green and yellow chessex cube, 12 big clear red chessex dice, and 12 big clear green chessex dice, and lastly some assorted small chessex dice accumulated over time. Annoyingly my awesome (it rolled way above average for hits) GW small scatter die got stolen luckily I had a spare The green are for my salamanders and the other are for various things. Such as, vehicle damage/hull points, wounds, terrain stuff, and objective Marking.

I first started gaming when I was 6 years old in 1978. I had two older brothers that started playing Dungeons and Dragons. I remember when my brother first came home with the original Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Players' Handbook. I only have one die left from that 1978 D&D boxed set; a 12 sided die made before dice makers started using high impact plastic. The corners and such on that die are so worn that it rolls almost like a marble.

Through the 1980's and 1990's, I was an avid dice collector. I have at least a dozen full sets of role playing dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20), and many more random d10 and d20 dice that I just liked the look. The sad part is that I have probably lost as many dice as I still own.

In the tabletop wargaming area of gaming, I have probably six or seven bricks of d6. I have two sets of red with white pip Kaplow hard cornered dice. I have a red/black pip, clear grean/white pip, clear grey/white pip, and marbled white-purple/black pip sets of Chessex dice. And, I have a set of bone/black pip and red/white pip dice from another maker that uses the rounded corners. Each of these are in the "brick" set, containing around 36+ dice, depending on the maker.

Way too many, I think.

For general gaming, I've got two blocks of 36 (one pink, one green) of the smallest dice Chessex produces, since I frequently need to roll double-fistfuls of dice when I'm playing Orks. I've also got my 30 or so Wolf dice, a set of custom dice I bought from Chessex with the Mark of the Wulfen symbol on the "6" side. I can't tell if it's just my imagination or if the symbol actually changes the weight of the dice, but they do seem to roll abnormally well (once rolled 26 in three different sets, didn't roll a single 1 - which is relevant because it's the armor save on my Wolf Lords).

Aside from that, I also have a set of clear plastic dice with blue pips that annoy everyone I play with because they're so goddamn hard to read. Just a standard set of d4s, d6s, d8s, d10s, d12s, and d20s from my D&D days. I haven't seen it in a long while, but I've also got a crown royal back stuffed almost to the brim with random assorted dice from the same age.

Oh, and I'm sure I've got those big gun dice that I bought solely for the purpose of getting a scatter die, I just never use them because they have the opposite effect as the wolf dice, they just tend to roll like utter crap. Plus, the fancy symbol is on the "1" side, not the "6."
