Terrifying Doombull
|
Started my armies for several reasons.
DKoK : Because gasmask and baynone charges are awesom!
CSM : Spikes makes the world go around, and I liked the fluff.
SM : Everybody likes termis and the chance to purge heretics.
SoB : Got them for free
DoC: same as above

Wicked Warp Spider
A cave, deep in the Misty Mountains

Started DA back when their codex came out in previous edition. I was actually going to start Tau, but after thoroughly gawking at the (back then) new DA models, I decided to start them. Mostly to start something new though.
Now I'm hesitating between Tau and Chaos, because I think the new chaos models look awesome (I play to paint, so I don't really care about competitive codices), and yet I still really want Tau fire warriors.

LoneLictor on thread about an ork choking the Emperor:
LoneLictor wrote:I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.
Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space. |

The Marine Standing Behind Marneus Calgar

My second army was ultramarines. Originally I painted Blood Angels. Party I wanted to paint something a diferent color, but also in those days, we used RT as more of a role playing game, and I wanted to start up an army in a different color to use as an opposition force for the PCs and their forces.
My third army was eldar. I picked them up because when the Falcon grav tank came out I needed to own it. Not so much "army range updated" but brand new unit at the time.

I started 40k halfway through 5th. Started out with Tau, got tired of getting beat whenever a new codex came out, so I picked up IG.

Jovial Plaguebearer of Nurgle

Where is my "It is complicated" option?
I started with IG right after 3rd Edition was released. I quit in disgust over 4th Edition. During that time, my sisters basement flooded, taking my IG away. When I got back into 40K with the release of the 5th Ed IG codex, I rebuilt my IG. I guess that makes them my first and second army. I recently started a Daemons Army. I wanted to do an all Nurgle Army, but could not find a decent trade. I ended up with a Khorne army and then expanded into Nurgle. I then decided to add Deathguard to them as allies. They are currently turning into my 4th Army.

Ladies Love the Vibro-Cannon Operator

Wanted another codex and something new.
I started with DE and then took Marines (EC) as my 2nd army. Both armies are very viable these days.

Started with CSM in 3rd edition (3.5 codex) and had lots of fun with them for a few years. I had started to get a few elder units and their codex when I stopped playing for awhile due to being a teenager with no money. Started collecting Eldar again during my last year of high school (around the middle of 5th) and had tons of fun with them. Got a great deal on an Ork army and so I started playing Orks a little bit, though I got distracted by my chaos roots towards the end of 5th edition, so the Orks haven't been getting tons of attention. I've been continuing with the Chaos into 6th, and am currently enjoying playing around with the new codex.
