Actually that's the opposite. Mass fire is reliable as it involves larger numbers of dice. The more randoms you generate, the more likely the average becomes.

8 regular wounds, plus whatever you cover via template fun
Also, MUCH cheaper than the termies. Combine with a triarch stalker for extra lulz, and twin link the whole thing! Using 6's to hit to place wounds on the Apo giving them FNP and any characters.

Then, pile on wounds with annihilation barges.
