Plus, let's not forget that a russ only hits roughly half the time, and it still has to wound (hello

), and it doesn't ignore cover saves, something that is a particularly interesting fact if you're bringing camo cloak scouts.
A russ isn't actually going to do that much if you're smart about how you play against it.

That's why I really want to be able to take a hull Eradicator Nova Cannon

Russes work like a charm for me, every time. They're so reliable and the opponent must use a lot of resources to deal with it. There was one instance in 6th, just one, where my Executioner's plasma sponsons got hot and failed the 4+ roll three times in a row and destroyed itself within two turns without the enemy dealing any damage to it. That was BAD
Come to think of it... Why on earth would I take a Chimera with a Russ in 500 pts? I'd prefer to spend 100 pts on guns rather than getting one and spending 45. Personally, I don't take a Russ at 500 pts (I don't bring AV14 at this point level, and I call any guy who brings a Land Raider in a 500 pts game
WAAC if I'm in a good mood, and something much worse if I'm not), but if I did, the list would look like:
CCS (
AC) - 60 pts
Platoon
PCS (
AC) +3 IS (3 Flamers) - 205 pts
Vets (
AC,
GL) - 85 pts
LRBT - 150 pts
The only problem is enemy AV14. Didn't give the list much thought, just off the top of my head, but it should provide an idea of what could be brought alongside a Russ. As I said, I'll never bring a Russ at 500 pts.
