Hmmm. the 40k fort on the hill... nix the FoR and that layout looks doable. You will want to texture the "sides" of the hill block a bit and add a ramp if that's the intended layout.

as for the cobble/brick roadways... Look at how I did the roads in my "san lorenzo" pblog. if you have a stamp for brick/cobble shapes that would make that a snap.

i will get that stamp. Funny thing is i am nixing the Ageis defense stuff in favor of more terrain FoR style.

Found this from your American Ork plog. The table is looking great, really looking forward to see how it turns out.

Any idea when you might be in a position to start painting?

Greetings comrade! I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I started this endeavor as well and I am pleased with the results. While not (yet) as elaborate, it may give you some ideas. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/492593.page

Also, from what you've posted so far it looks fantastic! Hope to see more soon!

I could not eat my dinner at this table, far too much stuff in the way. Worst table ever.

On the other hand; shaping up nicely, Panda. I look forward to seeing it with some more paint and such.

Looking Promising there chief.

If you want to add cobbles just draw em on with a ballpoint pen they'll drybrush and wash up a treat.

I have a 6x6 board I built that I plan on mounting some of this insulation foam on top of. So I am heavily monitoring this. My first 4x4 board was a piece of plywood on top of 2x2 planks to hold it up. And then covered in sand, and then covered in a desert looking paint. It is ok but not very themed, still works great for games of 1000 or less. But my newer board I am looking to do some awesome stuff to. I just would really love to see what you are doing here first panda.

So if you wouldn't mind a bit of in depth about how you did this in your next update that would be awesome.

Yeah! i will tell you how i did it, and then i will try to give some step by step instructions.

I bought 2" thick foam. 8x4 it was about 33$ including tax.
Then i cut the board into 2x2 sections for storage. Basically the line you see.

Currently they are slightly larger than 2x2 so i can sand them into perfect 2x2 or close enough, and fit more flush together.

However, i wanted them to be more texture and and stuff rather than a flat surface, so what i did was take some creators from gw. 5 pounds of plaster, and hope.
And presto you see the hills that are on the board.

Next i took some elmer's glue from the bottel, a bowl, and some water. I mixed roughly 1/8 water 7/8 glue. This makes it runny, and more applicable like water paint.
Covered the area as fast as i could, and thickly. Sprinkle dirt.. that is where i am at..

Sounds like a lot like what I did with my 4x4 board. Gave me some inspiration for my 6x4 board.

If you want some "over grown flagstones" Its pretty much the same technique just bigger shapes. On the City fight board I made, that technique is how I made the "panels" for the cast concrete looking roadway. Also You can give the foam a little more of a "rocky" texture for any small exposed areas by rolling a large ball of Crushed up Tinfoil across it.

on further note to make better results. I am going to be painting the boards brown before i flock them. Because if you look super close you can still see foam. Oh well 2 panels wont be perfect, but i can live with it.
