What, I'm supposed to be nice because you're in a wheelchair?

Anyway, you threw yourself out when you rolled high enough on the boon table to turn your chaos lord into a daemon price, losing all the gear that made him dangerous

Keith once again great event glad I got to help out and do some rules judging etc. Looking forward to being 100% involved next year with our shiny new "Hey I am a Judge" T Shirts.

Seans a good dude and a deserving champ he really maximizes the effectiveness of that army combo was fun to watch it in action. I think the format really worked out well and all the winners etc certainly deserved to be there fighting it out in the end.

Thanks everyone for another great event.

I love, love, love having a good 40k event at TempleCon, because it combines so many of my favorite things. My primary and much-loved hobby, on top of a great venue for casual socializing and drinking with fellow gamers, and with other friends and like-minded strangers to hang out and play other things with in the evenings, plus all of the entertaining costumed folk and eye candy. It’s just excellent, and I want to publicly applaud Keith and Mike and everyone else involved in organizing it.

Thanks as well to some excellent and fun opponents- Ben, Chris, Troy, Brendan, and Matthew. Some great, fun, challenging and close games there, against universally good sports. I’m much honored to win the Sportsman award, especially in the company of guys like Bill S, Troy, and Alex, all of whom consistently leave opponents grinning even when handing out face beatings.

I do want to make an apology and disclaimer for entering with an error in my list, which none of us noticed until my final opponent. I had my Plague Marine squad listed as Troops, despite not running a Nurgle Chaos Lord. This was a stupid brain cramp on my part, having played almost exclusively with a Nurgle Chaos Lord since the codex came out (and having played the old codex hundreds of times, in which they were always Troops). I just started trying out the list with a Daemon Prince as my only HQ for two or three games before the GT. The list was legal/playable, as I had three other Troops and no other Elites, but those PMs should never have been Troops. I did think back over my games, and I don’t believe the PMs held an objective at the end of any of them. Games 1 and 2 it was just my Cultists holding them, game 3 I never held the Relic and never got the PMs near it, game 4 the PMs were dead at the end, and in game 5 Matt spotted the list error early. That being said, naturally thinking them to be scoring undoubtedly impacted how my opponents and myself played, so that damaged the integrity of those games. :( Mea culpa.

Ragnar,

Brendan here, I actually thought of the plague marines yesterday, but I was actually thinking it was just my mistake thinking that they were troops when they were elites. As you said though it did not really impact the coutcome of our game as they were dead, and I don't think they would have greatly changed my target priority if I thought that they were elites. Mistakes happen, and it takes an honest man to admit when he makes one.

Can y'all put armies to any of the names in the result list? It's always interesting to see where the different factions finish.

Thanks, Brendan! I appreciate it. You should have heard me cursing myself out through my final game with Matt. I was so embarassed.

I know a number of folks dropped on day two, with hangovers. Dom Kidwell wasn't there and a friend was filling in using his figs, I understand. I'm going to edit your post to fill in some more armies...

Great event! Did not do so well winning-mission-wise, but it was neat to see so many different armies (and which allies/fortifications they showed up with).

I have two questions when you get a chance -

1) What was the painting rubric in use?

2) What factors (besides the pass/fail) contributed to the sportsman scores? I see ranges from 10-25, just curious.

Interesting results. Few IG allies near the top, daemons doing well, and Tyranids came in 3rd. I'd be very curious to see the top5-10 player's lists.

Congrats to Sean, Alex, Ragnar, and Dean! Thanks to Keith for a great weekend!

On top of this GT, a charity doubles event was held on Friday that raised over $2000, and it was a blast...rerolls and superheavy tanks and orbital bombardments were flying everywhere!

And thanks to my opponents for a weekend of great games!

Nice lists, I got to walk around the games a bit and there were some beautiful armies there, too! Wish I could've stayed later on Sunday to watch the last round... but I had to catch a flight home to watch the Ravens win the Super Bowl (was also pleasantly surprised by what good sports every person in the airport / etc was about my Ravens gear, New Englanders are much nicer than they get credit for )

Congrats to all the winners!! I gave Ragnar some beer Friday night and I saw him with more on Saturday night, so I imagine he was indeed a fun opponent to play on a weekend like that

It was my first time at TempleCon and I absolutely Loved the relaxed atmosphere, while still having great competition. It felt so different from AdeptiCon. Both awesome, but in very different ways!

You know what's bad, I was going to joke and say "Be Matt Bennett" but then I looked and umm ya. It's not suprising on the table he's a major prick off the table nice guy. Some people just have trouble transitioning that it is just a game with toy soldiers and win or lose have fun with it.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I didn't look closely, but I believe it's more or less his normal necrons (zandrekh, gauss & tesla immortals, 1 night scythe, scarabs, spyders, wraiths, 1 barge, kind of 1 of everything) plus a daemon prince and some cultists.

what was alex list?

Zandrekh
Overlord with scarabs, scythe, 2+/3++, Barge
Court #1 had a lord with scythe and a despair tek with shroud
Court #2 had a storm tek with a lightning field

10 gauss immortals
7 tesla immortals
5 warriors with night scythe

6 scarabs
6 wraiths

3 spyders, one prism (didn't stop a single spell all weekend, stupid thing...)

Tezeench Daemon Prince with mace, wings, 3+
10 cultists
Helldrake

Like Mannahnin said, pretty much one of everything

I had five great games and was fortunate enough to be on table 1 or 2 for the whole weekend so I didn't have to move my models very far. Dreadful deployment in game 5 and some stupid mistakes cost me the game and meant for some really close battle point results right at the end.

The event was excellently run again by Keith and crew, and is one of my favourite events of the year. Probably one of the only events where the gamers are outnumbered by the people in costume!

Yeah, all the costumes came as a bit of a surprise to me despite being given a heads up about that ahead of time. But it was pretty cool

sorry, I was planning on posting stuff this past weekend, but power was an issue!

I'll post the paint rubric when I get home.

For sports. It is in the first post, You start with 20 points, 1 ding = -5, 2 is -10, 3 is -20. Favorite opponent votes went +2,+3,+2,+3, for a max of 30.
