I have to agree with you on this,
GK get a lot of moaning which was understandable in 5th ed but now with 6th they aren't as unbalanced as they once were. Once I saw the lists I knew the orks would lose, 4 flyers on the necron list can't just be ignored even with the numbers on the ork list. Also all the tesla weaponry was going to hurt the ork horde especially if bunched up.
Yeah, the knights did get knocked down a peg or 2. However, they are still a very good army. It's ironic, though, because I haven't been having too much luck with them here in 6E. I'm actually losing more than I am winning!
Lol.
From the perspective of the crons, I was actually quite concerned whether the crons had the firepower to deal with all those bodies. And statistically, the wraiths shouldn't have been able to finish off the nob bikers like that. It was somewhat of a fluke. I was expecting them to be locked in combat for a while. But what probably gave the crons the game was the fact that their Destroyer Lord kept on coming back over and over.

IG player myself who had an idea for a list similar to this.
1.
IG players have been saying the sky is falling about power blobs with regular commissars, yet yours seemed to do very well. Was that a fluke, or do you think they're still viable? I've had good luck with them, but I'm not in the most cut throat area.
2. What kind of power weapons were your sarge/commissar packing? I guessed swords out of simplicity, but it wouldn't surprise me if you were packing maces/axes.
3. How are you planning on dealing with vehicle spam lists like leafblower with this list? It looks like your goal is just to get close and punch them to death. Not that I'm complaining

Great report, really feel like orks could've won that one if the dice had been kinder and the Nob bikers hadn't literally done almost nothing. Orks went into that game with almost a 400pt handicap when that biker unit moved flatout and got wiped. The fact that they slugged it out till the end even with their heaviest hitter doing almost nothing whatsoever would imply to me that you've got a good start with that
IG/Ork list. Let us know how it does!
Some very good questions.
1.
IG blobs are definitely very viable. As a matter of fact, I'd say they make the army very competitive. Tony won Nova using an
IG Blob squad ally and Andrew Gonyo (Target here on dakka) won the BFS (Battle for Salvation) also using an
IG blob squad ally. I actually packed them into my ork army because I wanted to play a true horde army but didn't have 150 orks.
Lol.
2. Yeah, they just had swords because that was what most of my models have. However, I would recommend axes if possible. That definitely seems to be the trend right now.
3. Honestly, this army build is an intentionally unbalanced one. How it deals with Mech is with the meltaguns from the blob squad and just plain assault with fast nob bikers and massed S4 attacks. Just take your lumps and hit back hard. Ignore those battle cannons and flyers and just swarm the objectives and control the board. Lack of ranged
AT is an inherent weakness of a green tide list that you're just going to have to accept if you want to play this type of list.
Yeah, despite the 500+ pt handicap (don't forget warboss), orks still did respectable and had the crons on the ropes if only the D-lord didn't keep on coming back. I think that had the nob bikers not died so early, orks might have even got the win. Necrons, like most armies, will have problems against this many bodies. Honestly, I actually felt that the crons were a slight underdog going into this matchup.
