Didn't the enterprise (the original) get sunk at Midway or coral sea, and had to be rescued by a British taskforce
Some names for the new carrier:
USS John Paul Jones, USS Lafayette, USS 7-11 , USS MacArthur ("the navy has never let me down," American Caesar page 644) USS Inchon, USS Roosevelt, etc etc

Ummm, no.
Enterprise never got sunk. The Japanese thought they sunk her on 3 occasions. Hence why she was named the Grey Ghost. They just couldn't kill her.
She was deactivated and scrapped in 1960
The current Enterprise was launched in 1961

No. You are probably thinking of CV2 Lexington sunk at Coral Sea.
Some names for the new carrier:
USS John Paul Jones DDG-53, USS Lafayette SSBN 616, USS MacArthur never happen, USS Inchon LPH-12, USS Roosevelt FDR or Teddy? DDG-80 and CVN-71
Which was and is fething criminal.

I would make the case for MacArthur being America's greatest ever commander. Yeah, I know he was army, but he had a high regard for the navy.
It would have to be Teddy over FDR.

The best MacArthur could ever do is one of the "hero" classes like the Burkes.

I love that picture.
I'm all for either World War II names or else head back to the revolution/1812 for inspiration. I doubt it'll happen, though. Instead, we'll continue to look forward to seeing the USS Murtha and so forth.

Why don't you get companies to sponsor your ships?
Though the USS Pepsi Max and the USS Coca Cola couldn't ever serve in the same fleet

We spend 4.7% of our GDP on the military, which is higher then others.
However, we also spend more on Healthcare then anyone else in the world.
So its not like the military is taking money away from anything. Its not a huge consumer of our national budget. Its Medicare, Social Security, and other entitlements that eat up all the money.

Right
Military spending isn't the issue... sure, we can cut some fat, but it'd be insignificant. As long as we want to be super-powerish and protect our assests/shipping lanes, we'll continue to spend that much.

I'm not going to get into it since I am sure we will have different opinions on your military spending
However, we also spend more on Healthcare then anyone else in the world.
And only get about the 44th best level of care in the world... the vast majority of your costs go into the pockets of insurance companies and their friends. Invest in universal healthcare - everyone pays less and gets better care
So its not like the military is taking money away from anything. Its not a huge consumer of our national budget.
Of course it is - any money the government spends can't be spent on something else

Of course this illustrates that money doesn't solve anything.
We should look at reforming healthcare and stop saying "O'NOES, we are making bombz. Bombz is bad!!!, lets spend it on medicine!!!"

Or save money on healthcare by making a more efficient system, save more money by cutting back on military spending, then either invest the rest in infrastructure, education, etc, or cut taxes.
Everyone wins!

Psst... btw... that 44th in the world is patently false.
But, yeah we spend lots of dough in Heathcare...

Not that list again....
A) It's incredibly biased
B) It's was done 'once' in 2000
C) I wish folks would stop pushing that meme
Folks think that our healthcare is in the dark ages...
Simply put, I'd put our healthcare up against any in the world.
That... this is a different topic. This is about the Enterprise being retired.
