Hey folks,

After a reasonably productive festive period, I have my two Furiosos and three drop pods to show you. Since taking the pictures, I've realised that I haven't painted the script on the little scrolls, purity seals, etc. I'll make sure I do them. Also think that I forgot to gloss the gems on the right arm power fist. This, I'll also do.

As ever, I very much welcome your comments, criticisms, questions, general encouragement.

Thanks for looking;

Thanks again,

Alan

Off topic, but I thought I'd post it here anyway. This is the reason that I didn't paint too many of my Angels Amaranthine in the couple months before christmas.

This was painted for a small (the inaugural) competition at my club.

Cheers,

Alan

The Space marine captain you painted looks awesome man. Nice and crisp armor - smoothe highlights and blending.

Also digging the last squad, its a cool and dark colourscheme, like it. The paint jobb is also nice man, good lines with the highlighting.

What you got coming up next?

Thanks for the comment Charky.

Up next is the 5 remaining guys for this tactical squad. They're about half way done at the moment.

After that, I'm not too sure. This squad will bring me to 1750 pts. Right now I've got another 10 man tactical squad built. I've also got another Landspeeder and my counts as Corbulo base coated. On top of that I have, lying aroun in pieces, an Honour Guard, some terminators, a land raider, what will be my Mephiston, a terminator chaplain, one or two other ideas.

But I'm thinking about taking a break at 1750 pts though, to be honest and having a bit of a change. I've got a 1500pt Death Guard army sitting in boxes at the moment, and I'm really keen to get started on it. Although I'm concerned that if I do that, I might not make it back to this army.

Not sure what to do at the moment. Any opinions are welcome.

Sadly, painting an army in a Month isn't an option for me. How long have I been at this? 16 Months? Wooft. Slow.

The droppods look really nice - especially considering that the model is such a dull one. Also love the squad.

I'd suggest that you do the Land Raider and then move on - it'd make a really nice model to centre the army around and finish it off, before you move on. Or an Imperial Knight, which would make for a very striking statement in your chapter colours.

Thanks man. Drop pods are soooo boring to paint. I resorted to a Lot of drybrushing, but I'm happy with how they turned out. The messiness kinds suits big metal lumps that've just fallen from space. I'd like to take better pictures of them actually.

The red was also my first proper go at thinning gw paints for airbrushing. Always stuck to VMA paints for convenience. Managed it reasonably disaster free. Still a bit of a hassle to do though.

I'll consider the landraider, though it seems silly to do that and then not do the terminators, then the chaplain, then Corbulo......

I really should though. Just kinda excited by my Death Guard plans.

Hi, I just stumbled across this blog, I read it start to finish, including your chapter history and I have really enjoyed it. Your models look fantastic and the army has sooo much character. It's great that your back into the hobby after a long break. My personal thoughts are that your lovely Angels Amaranthine are so nice I think personally they deserve to be finished and battled with. After all that hard work and really bringing them to life

Personally it would be a pleasure and honour to fight alongside the mighty long forgotten Angels Amaranthine

Thanks Brother for the really kind words. Means a lot. Glad you like the fluff too, but at the moment, it's going through a fairly major rewrite. I've been working on it over lunch breaks at work and it has been growing arms and legs. Turning into a bit of an epic unfortunately, but I'm hoping to have it finished in the next few weeks.

Regards to what I'll do next, I think you and Charles are right. I'll crack on with this for a bit yet. Charles is right about the Landraider centre piece, and I'll do my terminators to go with it. I've just had a look through your blog, Your SoM are awesome looking, really bold scheme, and really well executed. I'm gonna try replicate what how you've done your thunder hammers on mine. I'll try that effect, maybe with a light, blue wash over it or something. But thanks for the inspiration anyway.

Folks, my friend Charles wrote up a report for our game the other night. It's a great report and well worth a read if you're interested. Lots of pretty pictures too.

Hi folks, feeling a bit reinvigorated after my recent lack of motivation and desire for change. The comments here helped, so thanks for that. That game this week also helped, so thanks Charles for that.

I've started on my Terminators. There's still a bit to do on them, but let me know what you think so far.

The one with the combi-melta at the bottom. Initially, I had planned to have a Terminator Captain to attach to the squad, but the captain entry in the codex, to me, is a bit uninspiring. I don't imagine ever including one in a list. So I decided to make him a Reclusiarch (BA high Chaplain type character). I managed to convert him a Crozius Arcanum from the my old 2nd ed terminator chaplain and a CSM terminator power maul. I think it looks OK, still got to add a bit to it though.

What do you think of his head? I love this head, but worry about what it'll look like painted bone coloured, as is standard for Chaplains.

Any thoughts?

Thanks again for looking,

Impressive stuff in this thread, I just found it and worked my way through. The Angels are great and that Ultramarine is just stunning.

Your posing and converting is also exceptionally dynamic.

I'm off to take a look at the batrep.

Thanks paradigm. Much appreciated.

Just a quick update with an almost finished terminator. I was undecided on what to do with the shields. I don't particularly like the designs on them, and didn't want to make them too bright and obvious. Didn't want them to be too overpowering. Went with a kinda blue steel look, which I think looks mostly ok. Not too overpowering anyway, which was my main concern.

Just got the base and the hammer to do. Maybe a little clean up too. Doing them three at a time, so the first three are almost done. The reclusiarch is going to have to wait a while.

Thanks again for reading folks.

Terminators are done. Any thoughts?

The photos were taken on my phone, so aren't the best I'm afraid.

Termies are looking awesome. Love the combination of loyalist and chaos parts, it makes them look really gothic and gritty. Love the basing too.

Thanks Paradigm, I appreciate it. Though I should confess that I cheat a bit with the bases and buy ready made resin bases.

Couple of quick work in progresses today, since I managed to get the airbrush out early before the soccer yesterday.

Landraider, because the terminators need a ride.....

Not much special going on. Sponsons are magnetised, Flamestorm cannons not pictured. There are FW doors there but you cant really see them. Didn't really like the FW front hatch, just felt the insignia was a bit big.

Stormraven, because the terminators need a choice of ride... (and because Dakkajets.... Charles)

Again, not too much going on. used the Chapterhouse turret. Turret weapons are magnetised, using GW lascannons and plasma cannons. Sponsons are also magnetised so that I can remove them and put on normal doors if I can't find the points for the bolters. Canopy isn't glued down, I'll paint the cockpit interior first. The Angled bits or the wings, that go over the engine, where the chapter symbol is and the bit over the top, will be red. Which is why I haven't taken much care with the grey in this area.

Reclusiarch, because the terminators need a leader.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this one.... Although it's possibly a bit late fore any changes. But regarding paint, still haven't decided whether to go with a bone effect on the helmet and left shoulder. Opinions sought.

Thanks again for looking. As ever, thoughts, comments, criticism are encouraged.

Cheers,

Alan
