Easily SoB are up there with the average squad working out to be about most 500 point armies.

Sisters of Battle are the most expensive, second hand Marines are the cheapest. My Black Templars (3000pts)= $50

I just bought me a Grey Knight army. Not a spam list but with a bit of diversity and if you want to get em right with doors for transports from forge world, double autocannon dreads and the shiny goodness they can become quite the investment. A Stormraven or land raider kitted out with fw bling adds up quite a bit. But well I hope it will be worth it and they shall look glorious !

When going though "normal" armies in the 2k point range and don't do spam lists you will find that most armies cost about 400GBP. Even when you look at fantasy with slightly more points (which equals 40k@2k) the armies tend to cost about 400 GBP. Pretty sure that is not by accident !

I just ran my Elysian army through Forgeworld...... I am staggered by what I have spent on it to be honest....this is over a one year period

cheapest army i came up with was a mono-tzeetch daemons army. fateweaver, 6 flamer boxes, 3 horror boxes, and some greenstuff to turn 2 horrors into disc heralds. roughly $150 on a discount site.

Nipplewing is fairly cheap. Not Draigo-wing cheap but not bad.

DKOK gets a solid vote. Even with taking shortcuts it is extremely expensive army, shame because I really want one.

An armoured battlegroup isn't cheap either. 10 tanks at $60 or so is not cheap.

IF you go full artillery DKoK with the FW models, you'll spend 603£ on the guns alone, crewmen not included.
