Because what the guard really need is a 225 point box to move 30 troops around the board?

Perhaps not, but the internet craves memes and must be fed. Even with really old memes limited to one forum.

I approve of needless devotions to memes as much as the next man, was just wondering if there were any actual tactical considerations to the CAT. Seems like a waste of points to me.

I would say it's a waste of points, yeah. Better options are available. Not too much of a drag if you like the look of it, but definitely sub-optimal.

I don't know, the Crassus is actually pretty good. True, it is on the expensive side but it is an av14 super heavy transport that can move as fast as a chimera and hold ten ogryns. About as close to a deathstar as IG will ever get.

I still reckon that you'd get much better value out of 4 Chimeras. I've never wanted to take Ogyrns anywhere, never liked the fluff of them, and for my money, forcing your opponent to split his fire over four targets is going to result in higher survivability overall. Plus, I think you get more guns to shoot too. I can't remember what armaments the CAAT comes with.

The ogryns will then have to run out and stand around for a turn before being able to do anything.
