Pretty much.
Anyone saying they counter as being "In the defense line" if they're 12" behind it should.... Wait, nevermind.
Just assault the wall and have them find the part where it says he's now in combat with you. Since he's "in the defense line" and all.

Touching the terrain doesn't mean you're in it, being in the terrain means you're in it. There's no definitive mention, that I can find, about models being in base contact with terrain only models that are actually in it. You're adding in a qualifier that doesn't exist.

Thats just how English works, you are either in terrain, or you are not.
If you are not in contact with terrain you are not in it.
If you are in contact with terrain you are in it.
Charging a unit behind an ADL you need to take a Difficult terrain test (This is a Dangerous test for Bike Models as per P.45).

No it isn't. If you're in contact with a car, are you necessarily in it? If you're in contact with a house, are you necessarily in it? If you're in contact with a tree, are you necessarily in it? No, no, no. Contact does not imply being inside of something.

I guess the only true exception is making "contact" during a firefight.
Then you're "in" the gak

All of those examples are not accurate.
If you are in contact with a forest, are you in the forest or not?
If you are in contact with a lake are you in the lake or not?

major_payne wrote:The rulebook says that ONLY models within 2" of the other side of an Aegis get the 4+ cover save, this is not clearly defined and actually poorly written as to how players on both 2" sides of the aegis go, the rule would go that both receive the 4+ cover so long as they are within 2" and on opposite sides of the wall...
Its considered a 5+ when your models saves for obscurity beyond the 2" as per normal obscure cover save rules, not 4+ because you happen to be obscured by an Aegis...
You may want to re-read the section on the Aegis. P.104
you get a cover save if you are 25% or more obscured by terrain. The cover save from an Aegis is a 4+.

Also an Aegis is not area terrain, that is why the rule states the 2" for the BTB... Its GW's cop out for not making the Aegis on a base like its new Trench Set... It says that area terrain MUST have clearly defined edges for the purpose of working out who and what percent is in the area terrain to receive its cover save... The aegis would be Difficult terrain as it offers a cover save, but not be area terrain, its size when measuring Difficult terrain movement is the length/breadth of the model, and movement would be effected as the models clamber over it, so your men charging through it would count as charging through terrain for the purposes of being Int1 for charging at a unit through terrain even if they were on the other side of it and in BTB...
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Wow, I was told that its only models within 2" get the 4+... Lol, I'm using one for my nids, now they will get the extra cover... Its kinda silly though as you can now basically deploy an aegis up the middle of the field giving your entire army a 4+ cover as long as they remain level to your opponents army... Boss!

Then yours are worse (and aren't even necessarily correct in themselves), so lets use the relevant example directly: If you're in contact with a wall, are you inside it? No.

Ok why dont we think about it as you are trying to assualt someone over a wall... therefore you have to take a dangerous terrain test to assualt the guy on the other side... The being in contact with the wall was put in effect by GW or you would have to remove your wall everytime a assualt was made at any unit behind the ADL
If i was behind a wall a some tried to jump over it to attack me i would feel that I would have the advantage

You didn't answer my questions. Also Mine were examples of area terrain, yours were not, So how could mine be worse when I directly made examples of stuff that is area terrain and you did not.

I'll answer for him. No, you're not. Think of it this way, you're at the entrance to a building and you hold out your arm to touch the door, or the doorway. You're in contact with the building but you are not in it. If I touch a tree, I'm not in a forest. The only time(s) that B2B contact counts for anything is when specifically mentioned in the book. Moving throughout terrain has no mention of it, only entering terrain. It's very easy to differentiate touching from entering.

Touching terrain = base in edge to edge contact.
Entering terrain= base overlaps the terrain.
