I do the same lol.
I usually pre-setup a ruined looking city before friends come by for a game, make it as fairly placed as possible for anyone deploying on any table edge.

But i believe in each mission It tells you to follow terrain deployment which is the D3+2, but more then likely gets overlooked or ignored. Fortifications will become a standard i feel, for alot of lists tournament wise and maybe(hopefully) not so much local meta.

I threw together an aegis defense line out of foam this weekend just to see how hard it would be. If it tends too cheesy I will stop using it.

I've came up against opponents who've enforced the D3+2 terrain rule. To say the least, they weren't fun games. =P
