I like my women like I like my tanks. Large and in charge.
As for most awesome bit ever, I watched a guardsmen beat Draigo to death once. To add insult to injury, he had taken a wound the previous turn from an exploding banewolf.
That guy earned his promotion.

I agree, using autism in a pejorative sense is not acceptable, in the same way that using words like "slowed" or "gay" as insults is wrong.
Anyway, my opponent had an awesome firewarrior in a game I had yesterday. After his squad was cut down around him he managed to finish off some stormtroopers and then absorb an entire turn of shooting whilst standing in the open. By the end I was almost obsessively trying to finish him off. We both laughed about this invincible firewarrior shrugging off lasannons by just hitting the deck. He must have been the most awesome firewarrior I have ever seen.
He is the star of the game 'Fire Warrior.'
That, or Shas'o Kais as a firewarrior.

Yo Dawgs, I heard you like grimdark, so I put grimdark in yo grimdark in yo grimdark in yo universe that is obviously grimdark.

I think the people in this thread getting mad at TheCaptain, Ailairos, and others for being sexist arrogant douches are funny. Seriously, I had a good laugh at the original post and thought it was a good and humorous use of a metaphor.
Oh, and making fun of people with social disorders isn't cool at all.

In the first 40k game I ever watched (many years ago, I don't remember the exact units or armies), a large tank (probably a land raider) rammed a skimmer. The skimmer was fine. The land raider was wrecked.
The owner of the speeder could only explain it as the driver of the speeder shooting the tank driver in the head with his bolter.

If awesomeness was based upon the unlikelihood of something happened alongside the insane visuals, then nothing beats a Shokk Attack Gun. very few things can both succeed and fail in a spectacular manner , and imagining it tearing through the warp for the purpose of sending snotlings into the enemy (or exploding, vaporizing the mek and everyone around him) is so very amusing.

Hmmmm, the man is asking for a measurement of awesome.
Some people need to be reminded we are not here to rate YOU as awesome but how to rate it in 40k terms.
My stab at it:
Easy to Kill?: Rate how easy you can kill/reduce effectiveness of unit(s) before it can lay on the hurt from 1 (easy) to 10 (hard).
Cool Number?: Need a couple squads to be effective? Meh, around a 1. One model (Mephisto and ah yes, Marbo) or many (Mostly mortar guard, Medusa, many many) SPAM! around a 10.
Hit Shock?: You know it, how many dice or scary numbers of templates. Are you a sniper for a rating (unless it is those scary special rounds!) of 1 or trukk full of burnas full of fun? (full squad of Lootas?) (10)
Hard Hitter?: A swarm of guardsmen can be scary but they lack that bit of "Thump" they could be a 1. The previously mentioned Medusa hits hard = 10 or templates that ignore cover and special rules like armorbane, poison to make the pain more.
Right Place, Right Use?: This is where the real awesome comes but cannot be used for the specific model: Old guy with oversized chainsword chewing through demons = Meh (1). Old guy blowing up Chaos Landraider = mean nasty really cool old guy = 10. You all know those special moments you use these chosen models for.
FINAL ANSWER: Take all of above and add it up. Multiply by 2 = percent value and write a short blerb of how you see using this model in a cool way for the right place, right use.
Example:
Marbo:
10 = "right behind you" rule makes him a bit hard to hit first.
10 = one guy all by himself: the way he likes it.
5 = I have a satchel charge, I can ruin anyone's day.
10 = One guy or a vehicle, it is going to die.
7 = Assasination of the enemy's general, always stylish.
TOTAL = 84%
Reasonable?
Thoughts?

We need a far more awesome scale than simple percentages. I suggest a scale of Draigo to Ollanius Pius. I ensure you can all figure out which way that scale goes.

Alright the arguing has to stop, cuz we all know what brings the milkshakes to the yard. fething Hammernators. You ever heard of MC Hammer and his legendary hammer dance? Of course you have. Now what if I told you I improved that? You would be like, "No way can't happen, great song, greater dance." And do you know what Id say to that? I'd say, "Well hello little boy lets take a look here. The hammer dance is magical, but what if our good friend MC was nine feet tall? And hike we're on the topic, what if he was wearing super armor meant to be used by workers in areas as hot as the sun? And oh yeah his boy Vulkan? Yeah he master-crafts that dance. I'm out, have fun with your now woefully inadequate hammer dancing."
