I've always liked Commissar Yarrick. Any man that gets respect from orks for fighting well is doing something right.

Chaos- Fabius Bile. That thar man is EVIL ... in a Dr. Mengele way.

Wazzdakka Gutzmek- whom all self-respecting speed freaks aspire to be.

Lore:

Urien Rakath for me Dude's just all sorts of creepy, and it's hinted he's one of the guys that caused the Fall. Plus you can't really top a guy for Grimdark who considers being killed in every agonizing way possible a HOBBY...

Wazdakka for the Orks. Harley ..meet Titan head. Harley wins.. Ridiculous fluff, but awesome. The Warboss who travelled back in time and topped himself to get an extra copy of his favourite gun is also a favorite

Tabletop: For me, it's been a toss-up between Baron Sathonyx (dice just like him..at least for me) and Ghazzy.

I really like Ulrik The slayer for lore- he was what inspired me to play space wolves(shame his rules are crap):
He's a Chaplain and apothecary rolled into one,
He made his name by avenging the death of his wolf lord...by cutting down three berzerkers....and receiving a salut from Angron himself for his good work,
He knew better than to take the honour of becoming Wolf Lord when he was offered it,
He mentors all the greatest warriors of the fang,
He is the only one who can control Logan Grimnar,
All Wolf Lords bow to him...including Logan......Whom he calls 'young Grimnar' (Ulrik is the oldest of his chapter),
He has a wolf skull as helmet,

On the table-top: I like Angrons Rules.

Lore for me is Lucius - absolutely love the quest for martial perfection which at some point translated into "hey look at this - I can cut off bits off my own face! I'm gonna swap my shoes for hooves too!"
That and I love his showing in the heresy.

Tabletop - in 5th I'dve said Abaddon.
In 6th? Literally no idea.

Lore and Fluff: Aun'va.

Fluff wise he gives advice. Like really good advice. How good you ask? Other guys listen to that advice, even when they aren't asking for it. And he is like 40 (about 90 in human years) When was the last time your grandfather told you something relevant. Yeah, thought so.

TT he is a monster. You're probably all like "Dude he is ancient. How will he make it to the battle field?" Aun'va rides around on a Hoveround that actually hovers... around! Nothing will stop this geezer from his rampage. He is so awesome that two other Tau were like "Woah, lets drop our guns, grab some sticks, and hang around this guy. Maybe we will be awesome like him." And his weapon is a stick with unlimited power... which I will quantify. He gets a save. Not just any save, but a cover save. 4+ all the time! Try and remove that! That and this stick is so strong that it makes him and his bodyguards T5 even when just wearing their fancy shirts.

To top it off, if he were to die (which is a joke. I don't think you could field the firepower it'd take to bring this monster down) But if he were to actually die, the entire army just drops their guns and are like "Woah! This is too tough for me. I'm outtie."

Ok, got that out of my system. Carry on with the serious conversations.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

I have to agree with both those suggestionsof the character with the most awe (I'm probably being a little bit bias again, me being pretty new to the game and not having experienced many armies)

Lore: I don't think anyone has mentioned Eldrad yet... the seer of seers, subtly influencing the fates of entire systems, able to guide civilizations along the cords of fate, highest of the high elves, psyker of psykers, and I bet he can add up all the change in your pocket very fast...246 toothpicks...But on the tabletop, I've never played him. My Eldar-playing friend fielded him a lot in 3rd ed. Pretty good, if I recall.

Tabletop: Now here's where I will post my objection to the misleading title of the thread. I think the most awesome character was not any special character, but one I made for said edition all those years ago: a maxed out Chaos Lord with Mark of Khorne, Spiky bits, Chaos armour, Lightning claws, and a Juggernaut. What was that, something like 7 strength 6 power wepon attacks on the charge, re-rolling misses(or was that wounds?) with a 2+ save? Epic dude. I miss that guy.

This thread is clearly not serious, but here's a serious answer:

Marneus Calgar is unequivocally the most powerful special character on the tabletop. Even if he were not the third best melee character in the game (which he demonstrably is), God of War alone would still probably make him the most powerful special character.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Swarmlord obviously. Close second is any Hive Tyrant/ Typhus, then Doom of Malantai maybe.

Down the drain and at the very bottom Marneus Calgar and Kaldor Draigo fight for the second worst wuss of the millenium.

Thakka all the way. Who else could unite millions of orks, from all different tribes, as well as plunging one of the strongest worlds of the imperium into eternal war. He also out-witted humans and space marines alike. He almost killed both yarrick and belial, and he eats chaos lords for breakfast. And that is just the fluff. In-game he is a beast, with 7 st10 ap2 attacks on the charge, and he has killed almost all opponents, including Mephiston, and almost all of the people mentioned before in the thread. These are my reasons and anyone who wants to argue had better know the codex by heart.
