I prefer to think that he knew it was the most likely outcome should he hold back and show compassion for Horus. Had he gone all out the moment he entered the Vengeful Spirit's bridge, he could have obliterated Horus in an instant, returned to the Imperial Palace, and continued the war in a different fashion.

Thanks for that reference, I had a lot of fun reading more about the necrons. If such books are considered cannon then fate/destiny, seems to actually exist in the 40k universe.

No problem.

Fantasy Flight Games's 40k RPG fluff is great, and IMHO Tome of Fate's Necron section is fluffwise a better Necron codex than the 5e Necron codex. It managed to bridge the gap and make the two Necron codices cohesive with eachother, rather than the route the 5e codex went (RETCON EVERYTHING).

Anything Tzeentch can touch is subject to fate and destiny.
He is the God of Fate, after all...

Yeah, Tzeentch despises the Necrons for this reason. They alone are beyond his reach.
