Thanks folks,
Glad you all are enjoying them. The command squad and HW is primed and I hope to start on them tonight. Also, my friend let me his minwax polyshades tudor, so I should be able to dip the painted squad tonight also.
The club came over last night for a hobby evening, and here's a bit of terrain I worked on.
It will have alot of uses in various sci-fi games, but I'm conceiving of it as a squat mine entrance and bunker. It's not big enough to acommodate a land train or anything, but I imagine it's the sort of place you'd find squats working, preparing, etc. It's quite a large piece with a nice entrenchment on the back and a bunker on the front. I've kept the bunker/garage door movable so it can be opened to place minis inside.
I've; since ballasted (sand and kitty litter) and primed it.
It's actually based on this toy, for which I found just the base section (no other parts besides the doors) at a resale shop for 2 bucks!

Quick updates today,
1)Box O squats arrived today. 18 metals and 18 plastics and a few bits. He even sent the original, slightly battered box.
The metals are already in a vat of Purple Power.
Here's a pic of the batch.
I don't have a close up (but will get one later) but the black capped fellow standing behind the right exo armor is armed with a Shuriken rifle! I think that most of the squats armed with odd weapons will end up as part of HW teams.
Also, the 3 Exo Armor Squats are Chaos Squats. I think I'm going to try and trade them for regular Exo-Armor Squats.
2) Found my Tudor (like Darktone) dip, but it was all hardened to jelly. Luckily a friend lent me his so I could dip the previously painted squad. I should have that squad based and matte finished by tomorrow.
3) Last week I finished up the Mine Supply Bunker.
More pics in it's "Showcase" thread here:

4)Got two more of the RT era angular rhino front/rear pieces with view slit. I've got bits for exhaust, and as soon as I get 3 more hatches for the sides I'll be able to start to build those APC's into rhinos.

Chaos Squats always make me laugh. Oddly enoguh I've got so many Epic Chaos Squats I've been using them to supplement my Chaos Spae Marines Havoc stands.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Ah fond memories, RT and those squats... good to see some love to them!
Also the bunker is a nice piece.
Btw I never realized before I saw that toy set how much 40k "Thomas the tank engine" is... basically a setting of machine-spirit driven transport vehicles! Plus it has the word "tank" in it...

For many 40k is the gateway into wargaming...
But "Thomas the Tank Engine" is the gateway to 40k!

Finished the basing and matte varnish on the second squad on Sunday.
Got a bit of unfortunate foot coverage with the basing material, but nothing too terrible for line-troop models.

Just fished the last batch out of the vat of Purple power. Scrubbed them down and one more soak should do it.
Just wanted to say that I haven't forgotten about this blog, but I have to move the squats to the back burner. The club is preparing a 28mm scale Mech game for the "Little Wars" convention in April in Illinois. We've got a ton of terrain and quite a few mechs to build before then.
Expect more Squats in April (maybe sooner) But I will open a project blog for the 28mm Mech-game prep soon.
