Ok so sad times on the griffon front. Orange is an absolute pain to paint!!



I had to end stripping the bum.
Has anyone got any tips on how to paint the orange. I tried using snakebite leather as the base then mixing blazing orange to it then pure blazing orange. It was too bright and thick. Was wondering if the new paint range would be any better?

I like what you've done so far and look forward to seeing more. Re. the griffon, I can't see the image but I'd start with calthan brown then add in vermin and maybe some orange at the end - you'll probably have to do a bit of experimenting on a palette/bit of paper to get the colour you want . Thin with a bit of water if your paint is seeming too thick.

I have been doing some orange on my Wood Elves and its been a bit of a struggle...here is what I did:

White primer
1 thin coat of deep red (acrylic)
2 thin coats of a bright red/dark orange 1:1 blend
2 thin coats of dark orange, 1 "full" coverage, just staying away from the edges, the second only on the high spots
1 thin coat of "pumpkin" orange on the high spots...

That's works. Debating going down the sandy root but yea may find an old model and experiment what you guys have said! Next it'll be the tiger stripes to tackle oh the joy.
Good news however, finally got round to buying some undercoat so let the priming commence!!!!

Need help guys. Accident has happened and the small hammer on Karl frank crown has broken any ideas on how to fix!! On the plus found a solution on the orange tiger stuff, pics coming soon

Hi guys, back again. So moving a little bit from the empire and picked a few Nurgle looking things.

Unfortunately I dropped the banner bearer and the arm broke so had to do an emergency amputation.
Thankfully forgeworld, bless their cottons (seriously though, thanks forgeworld) are sending me another to replace it.

Those guys look great. The blue and white compliment each other well. Glad to see you are turning out more Empire.

So have let this blog die a little but I am back with a small update!
So hand gunners are finished apart from the banner bearers arm but will do that after painting something different. Let me know what you think.

Woah... I thought Empire was ugly till I saw your army. Now I want it all very much.

Those pistollers (?) are looking mighty good. My favorite one is the unit champ, look at that guy, dual wielding what looks like sawed-off shotguns

Yea I. Really pleased with him, the main thing though are the horses, im so pleased with how they turned out!!

Ok so taking a break from the empire very briefly and finally put the snow on my dark eldar, let me know what you think.

That is exactly the type of base i'd like for my IG - what did you use?

It's a mix of pva and citadel snow. Use plenty of glue though. I found it went clumpy and odd without enough glue. Chuck up a picture when you're done I'd like to see!

what did you use for the rock beneth?

they are actually molded bases from a company called back to basix

Hey guys so further back in the post was a picture of my converted grey wizard unpainted, well I can now unveil the finished piece!







His name is The Wanderer.
As a young Mage him and his master were traveling through the woods that a situated near the Provence with which my baron is from. They were attacked by a group of beat men. The master Mage hid our young wizard in a brush protecting him with a barrier spell before doing battle, unfortunate his wounds were mortal he died shortly after vanquishing the beast men.
Our young Mage, taking up his masters sword vowed to protect the woodland and surrounding areas from the beasties that lurk there.
He his only a young Mage but as you can see the magic is taking its toll and he going prematurely grey.
Each strand represents a monster that has been slain. A chaos warlord turned to ashes, a beast man bray shaman having the flesh stripped from its body, or a merworm ripped apart by an unseen force, this is the toll the winds of magic our taking on The Wanderer.
