Hey everybody!

Been losing an uphill battle at work, which is especially disheartening as I work from home haha, but finally getting some headway made. So figured NOW was as good a time as any for a quick little quip of an update. Sorry for no pics.... =*(

BUT I PROMISE YOU WILL LOVE WHAT COMES LATER!!!

Been working on getting the Storm Eagle cleaned up. Got a significant portion of it soaking right now (already cleaned), planning on scrubbing it tonight and starting on the assembly I I can get to a good stopping point on the rest of it tonight.

Need YOUR HELP INTERNET - Can't decide what force to paint it for.

GREY KNIGHTS..... or ...... MINOTAURS?

Need to know as I want to order the appropriate brass etch stuff and REALLY trick it out fancy. Go big or go home right?

As far as nurgle goes, Typhus has been taunting me, so he's going to get his second batch of love soon as will his deamon prince big brother. Otis has been sitting in his box needing the finishing touches, but still can't bring myself to finish him - kinda hard when the defiler doesn't fit in my finished standard list.... but oh well. It's what it is haha.

Played a FANTASTIC GAME of Grey Knights against Necrons. Same list I've been running. Ended up being the Triangular deployment with big guns never tire. 5 objectives, 1 deep in each of our deployment zones, and 3 lined up straight down the middle, with another 1 in each of our zones.

Was a great game, opponent brought a double FOC with 4 HQ's, Obryn, Nemesor Zangief (my name for him), Tryzan the infinate, and like a normal lord and destroyer lord, a 20 man warrior squad, 2 monolths, 1 shard, 1 6 man squad of immortals, 1 3 man wraith squad, 2 6 man warrior squads, and i think that was his list...

He went first, deployed first. Got the warlord trait that let him choose to either redeploy 3 units 1 d6 or 1 unit 3d6, I got the trait that gave my guys stealth 'ruins' and move through cover (and every piece of terrain was ruins pretty much (AWESOME)) He started with all his HQ's except his normal lord with the 20man blob near his far objective, on his deployment line, monolith near the line, and the immortals with the normal lord (warlord) in a ruin near the line.

I also got 5 on the grand strategy and made 1 GK SS and both Dread Knights scouts, so started with everyone on the board except them and the vindicare and infiltrated vindicare in building for vantage point, but ended up only getting half of the board covered with his range. Put my SS in the dead zone on his board edge in a hollowed out hill with emplacements around the knoll, and infiltrated 1 dreadknight behind the 20 man warrior blob with the attached 4 hq's and 1 in front on my side of the board.

Could run through the details, but the highlights are. as follows:

Dreadknights killed a combined 8 warriors on turn 1, lost dreadknight in his line on turn 2. Dreadknight 2 went fisticuffs with a c'tan shard for several turns and went toe to toe taking down 2 wounds before going down. Sniper survived a Monolith deepstriking right next to him and wiping out 70% of a strike squad, making ludicrous feel no pains and cover saves, only to turbo penetrate the monolith next turn.

Ended game with Necrons 5 pts - 2 from my heavies, 3 from objective, Grey Knights 16 - 12 from 4 objective, 1 first blood, 2 monoliths, 1 from line breaker, as a lone knight fell back from combat with the necron warlord, only to regroup and run in to contest the objective and score an extra point.

Great game Best one, both tactically and strategically, that I've played in a LONG time. I can say I don't think I made any mistakes.

Only real risky move was the dreadknight in his deployment when he was going first, was I was risking first blood and a heavy point just to divert his attention for one turn of shooting. But it paid off in the end, so WOOT!!

Have I mentioned Minotaurs?

I'd say paint up for Minotaurs, your Minotaurs look cool. And what's cooler than looking cool? Having more cool stuff that looks cool, looking cool. Yeah.

I'm gonna have to agree with you guys. Also, checked over the FW data sheet PDF, and it doesn't say that Codex Grey Knights has access to the damn thing haha, so it kinda violates my sense of authenticity hehe.

Got the main Fuselage assembled last night... thing that's what it's called.... Body.... So tonight's project is to begin working on the wings. SUCKER IS HEAVY.

Al,so, just a real quick review of the kit overall.:

For the most part, everything is great. Not a whole lot of flashing that needed to be removed. The mold was lined up fairly well on most of the key components as well. The way the kit interchanges with the components from the storm raven kit are rather ingenious (and really ticks me off that they didn't use this model for the storm raven in the first place, but what the hell right?).

Only complaint I have are that on the front side pieces of the body, some of the areas are rather thin, and are possibly going to warrant green stuffing so that they look better in the long run, which may be difficult to do so that I don't lose detail excessively. Also, the pack pieces that forms the top of the fuselage was of center in the mold by approximately 1 to 2 on one side, which has now created a gap on on side which will need to be filled with green stuff - also this have created a height differential between the pieces from when i cleaned them which will also need to be addressed.

Conclusion:

Kit is fantastic. I love it so far, and ?I would gladly pick up another... if it was not SO DAMN EXPENSIVE. It will make a great addition to any SM army or Chaos or Pre-Hersey army as well.

So to close out this post, here's a fun picture of some very envious Plague Marines discussing how to get their hands on their own Storm Eagle Assault Gunship:

HELLO EVERYBODY!!!

Been an eventful weekend. Here's some photos to bring you all up to speed!

NURGLE:

Finished up the 3rd squad of Plague Marines. Pretty proud of the battle damage done to the forge world torso - makes me wish they would have done some damage to the torso's.

Typhus got himself a bit of color - got a fix on how I plan to do the eyes and the "barnacles" on his back.

MINOTAURS:

Finished Assembly on the Storm Eagle - Proceeded to prime, basecoat, wash, and start drybrushing...

RANDOM FUN:

So, after giving it much though (that's a lie, like all of 30 seconds) decided to purchase a cabinet for the workroom. This is what it looks like after assembly.

However, I just could NOT leave well enough alone. So I said to myself, "what can I do to make this better?" So, I stopped by the local hardware store and went on a walkabout.
Luckily, one of my fellow 40k players was working and helped me to find these beauties.

Desk tray organizers - They have one side with a lip that hooks over the flat side. So a few washers, screws, and pilot holes later, and now I have a Cabinet that looks like this!

So that's pretty much what's been going on with the hobby lately. More to come. Stay tuned!

Also, here's a photo of the Helldrake I airbrushed for my roommate. Basecoated and washed via the airbrush. Gold and sepia, gotta love it.

I wish my girlfriend would let me have a hobby cabinet. Typhus is looking awesome though, all of it is looking really good actually.

Thanks for sticking with me! And believe me when I say, the first reaction from my girlfriend was a question about the cost. The trick is to not tell them about it first!!

Also, I highly recommend this cabinet from Walmart if you want to build a hobby cabinet. It's handy, easy to build, and still has plenty of room to build on to it.

Fantastic stuff here, Markillius. The Nurgle marines are amazing, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the Storm Eagle comes out.

What kind of spray booth do you have? I've been thinking of getting one, and yours is quite impressive.

Thanks.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the blog!

As far as spray booth goes, it's a generic plastic storage tub. The bottom has been cut out so that an air filter can fit on the bottom side of the tub. Then it is taped to the container (I used electrical tape), and I set a box fan on the back side of the the box to create airflow through the booth.

In total, I think the build cost me about $30 to buy everything from walmart.
