I just wanted to start this thread to get a little buzz started about this huge game that will be played next weekend. I will have my camera there taking photos (any requests?) I will do my best to document the battle.

WAAAGH!! Skipphag has invaded Iocanthos, an agri-world in the Segmentum Obscurus. Recently, an ancient the Imperial Baneblade, Steel Lord (Steel Lord is a Baneblade of the 89th Cadian Armoured Regiment) has become inoperable. Its guns fell silent at the most inopportune time, leaving it exposed to fire from the onslaught of WAAAGH!! Skipphag. Fearing the Baneblade will be looted and scrapped, several distress calls were sent by the Garrison forces, while still holding the green tide at bay. A stalemate has been reached, but in the interim, several Adeptus Astartes chapters have responded to the call for help.
Meanwhile, from the shadows, the Dark elder of Kabal of Damnation has been observing that the monkeigh have fought very hard to keep the primitive tank away from the assaulting orks. Relishing the thought of the monkeigh failing, and suffering destruction at the end of their own weapons, a weak alliance has been informally created between the orks of WAAAGH!! Skipphag and the Kabal of Damnation. This of course, shall be betrayed at the earliest convenience.

The Forces of chaos have seen a portent into the future. The marines of the Thousand Sons, along with the gibbering madness of escorting daemons, know that if the Imperial forces succeed, the Steel Lord will be repaired; only to be used at the defense of Cadia, 888 Terran years from now.
The Craftworld of Ulthwe and the mighty Farseer Eldrad Ulthran are being drawn to Iocanthos, for reasons unbeknownst to them. The Webway has drawn them from the warp, for reasons even mysterious to their millenniums-old leader.

If we had anything better we would. The Baneblade was the biggest Imperial thing to use as a backbone for the story. Do you have any suggestions? We plan to do this again over winter break if possible. (a lot of us are still in college.)

A buddy sent me this pic of his truck.

I just loaded up my truck... 9 plano cases, 2 tool boxes, 1 battle foam box, my paint set and skips big box of legos and terrain. Over 1/3 of the apoc's points is currently sitting in my truck... Pics later.

Imperium had a small deployment and blobbed chimeras/leman russ's to try and destroy the 2 stompas. It was a huge cluster eff of fun.

Looks like a fun time was had by all!

Did you use 5th edition rules just so everyone was familiar with them, or is your group not happy with 6th?

What assets did each side take?

1 extra asset to cover over 1000 points seems a bit :/

As far as the imperium side:

Flank march, careful planning (blue marines)
Orbital bombardment, replacements (White Scars)
Orbital bombardment, camoflauge (Blue/grey IG)
replacements and I forgot the other 1 he chose (other IG player)

FYI... Disrupter beacons or whatever they are are nasty things...
