Q: Can a character on a Catacomb Command Barge target one unit
with his Sweep Attack and charge a different unit in the subsequent
Assault phase? (p52)
A: Yes.

We like that yes

Nope, Sweep Attack states that they're done in the Movement Phase.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I think the point of a Jack-in-the-box approach on the previous page would work well.

Over 2 of your turns you could:
-Sweep a unit twice
-assault a unit twice
-Shoot a unit twice
-HoW a unit twice.

If anything can survive that, it is horrendously OP

Unless your dice say 'feth you, you are loosing this game'

Well, that's if you can get the Command Barge in range to sweep in the first place, now...

Well, with the new rules, if a necron unit is upfield without support you are playing very wrong.

Still, if most people see a CCB coming for them with a unit of Wraiths and a unit of Scarabs flanking it on either side, I know exactly which one of the three I would most want not to make its way into a 12" radius of my stuff...

depends on your list to be honest. Tanks: Scarabs. Infantry: Wraiths. Anything else: CCB

Necron warriors are difficult to kill if you have a lord with res orb

Immortals are better at that, due to 3+, but you are correct.

The good thing with warriors is that you can get 20 of them while you only get 10 immortals.

I agree with that statement, and I personally preffer Warriors because they are cheaper.

I was just saying if he wants stuff that just wont die, Immortals + Res Orb are the way to go.

10 immortals are cheaper then 20 warriors. immortals are more expensive then warriors modelwise.

Depends. Against Ap3+, Warriors are more resilent due to sheer numbers and Warriors are more effective vs. vehicles. Immortals are superior against infantry. If you really do not want stuff to die, get a Warrior blob and 1-2 GA. I really want to do some math though...

10 Immortals are 170 points, a Warroor blob comes at 260 points.

Unit gets hit by 20 S4 AP5 shots:
Warriors: 13 hits, 8 wounds, 4 saves, 2 get back up => 2 dead Warriors
Immortals: 13 hits, 8 wounds, 1 dies, 0.5 Immortals die.

Unit gets hit by 10 Ap3 shots:
Warriors: 7 hits, 4 wounds, 2 get back up => 2 dead Warriors
Immortals: => 2 dead Immortals

Hmm, what I said above then

I'd really like you to make longer and more elaborate statements. You seem to mostly make posts of very few words, merely stating a point and thus not getting the discussion forward or actually starting one...no offense, but I'd say that it could make the entire thread more interesting and more profitable for everyone

I'm going to second this. (edit) Perhaps ironically.

Sorry, don't know if this was cleared up or not but it's not "simply 3 attacks", it is the attacks the rider has in his profile. Pg. 86, bolded part under sweep attacks.

However most of the necron HQ's only have 3 attacks in their profile. I think obyron has more though.

*Edit*
No, he has 3 also. Szeras has 4 (for some stupid reason).

The Catacomb Command Barge's Sweep Attack rule states that "Whilst a character remains embarked on the Catacomb Command Barge, he can make three special 'sweep' attacks each turn."

Nothing in the Necron FAQ changes the barge's Sweep Attack rule, or even mentions it, so a Bargelord's Sweep Attacks will always be 3 attacks, whether because of the attacks on his profile, or because of the Barge's rule.

Whether or not a Lord on a barge can make use of the Barge's Sweep Attack rule AND the Sweep Attack rule given by the chariot is another matter, though, although I'd be inclined to say that they're both the same rule, but the Barge's one is more specific and therefore takes precedence.

Szeras is a special case balance-wise. He is the only model with a really expensive USR - Zandrekh's e.g. comes at 5 points (!). Szeras' points cost is a very "old school" way of balancing a character: you increase the points cost and try to justify it by giving the model more attacks. The thing is, however, that in Szeras' case, he is a fire-and-forget model attacks-wise. Szeras is made to be a part of Warrior blobs and with his Gaze of Flames and his 4 attacks, he is designed to take a hit in the first round of combat but deal some damage out in return - since if you lose a cc fight with a Warrior blob, it's all in anyway and Szeras' additional attacks try to increase the odds of you winning, especially with Gaze of Flames.

In the end, it does not change the fact that he's overpriced and about 15 points too expensive, but he just follows the old way of "Yeah, he's more expensive but look! 4 attacks!" way.

well, that would get interesting very fast...

Also, on Szeras, if you roll T5 for the Blob, and attach a Res Orb with a Ghost Ark nearby, that unit wont die.

Period.

I can't remember: for Szeras' bonus, do you roll for the power, THEN pick the unit you want to give it to?
(or is it the other way around...)
