I've always wanted to make a Vindicator from a sturmtiger base. Granted I wouldn't have to do much, but still...
Also, being a fan of the T-28 myself, I'm wondering what you're planning on doing with it.

Heres a treat.

in a bit of "in the zone" building I managed to finish the rear turret structure. unfortunatly its now 3 in the morning. how time flys.

Anyways.

The Vanguard Turret.

The Vangaurd from the front.

Vanguard Rear.

As for the T28 Super Heavy Tank (there is no "-" in an American Tanks name, thats Soviet or Russian stuff), im thinking of having it be a monster version of a Shadowsword.

tri pair of sponsons, and possibly a turret on its back (on the fence with that idea). give it rules like the Gorgon transport with the huge ram capable of absorbing rounds. instead the super thick armor absorbs the attack with ease. But ill get to all that when construction begins.

For now. The Replacement design of the Leman Russ Battle Tank.

The Vanguard Battle Tank.

Im sure the design would easily allow all of the Leman Russ Variants weapons to be mounted.
From the Laser Destroyer (fixing the turret in place), to the Executioner and everything else.

Heres a 1/35 Tiger I and Stug III (based off a Panzer III chassis) with a couple GW minis to compare size:

As you can see the Stug/Panzer III/IV chassis (and other medium tanks like the Sherman) might make acceptable Russ size replacements, but larger tanks like the Tiger & Panther are getting into super heavy territory.

The Vanguard Main Battle Tank construction is completed.
Its mid way though painting otherwise.

Overall I belive the Vanguard design is leaps and bounds over the Leman Russ. It would be larger with wider tracks but that was a constraint by the Leman Russ size. either way It has more mechanical sense then the Leman Russ.

Its turret and cannon are opposite of the Leman Russ design.
The turret is large enough that 3 humans can feasibly fit into it and both the Gunner and loader have hatchs (on the sides of the turret) to enter and exit from, while the Commander has an area in the rear of the turret where communications equipment can be stored and he could stand up in the hatch as well.

Ammunition is stored in and around the turret ring and the Cannon itself is not so off scale that it would possibly be like 300mm instead of the labeled 120mm.

The Driver has his own seperate compartment in the front with Lascannon controls linked to his controls allowing him to fire the weapon. Also he is more sunk into the hull like many modern tanks today, rather then a slit window he has 3 periscopes to view the world from.

The Suspension would be Torsion bar with a middle mounted engine behind the driver and just fore of the Turret ring with the gearbox and transmission connecting to the sprocket wheel. Fuel is stored to the left and right of the engine with batteries on the right front side. The Lascannon batteries are seperate but are contained in the same compartment, which can be accessed by the Driver should the need arise. The Tracks have a rhomboid shape but it is much much shorter and practical then the taller Leman Russ suspension. It has 1 large return roller with 4 road wheels and the frontally mounted Idler wheel.

Its hull armor has a upper glasis being at 250mm thick at a roughly 45 degree angle. its lower hull has 200mm of solid plasteel at roughly 30 degrees. Its turret front has 200mm on the turret "cheeks" and the very front including the gunsheild is a total of 550mm thick of solid armor (the gunsheild itself is 350mm thick with the turret front at 200). The sides are a thinner 150mm with the turret sides being 110mm thick with the doors having an added 40mm. The rear armor is a much thinner 80mm of armor on the hull and 70mm on the turret rear.

Its "run-on-all" engine is capable of over 1000 hp and with turbo engaged it can achive 1500hp. Its governed at 45mph but with the govoner removed the engine is capable of kicking the Vanguard into about 60+ MPH, but a Vanguard would rarly reach such a speed as the transmission and tracks would be shreaded by the engines brute force before it reached such a speed.

The design could be outfitted with sponsons with a large plate welded to the track guards and sponsons attached but they are left off.

personally i think thats a more suitible tank design then the Leman Russ.... the Vanguard may be just as ficitonal then the Leman Russ, but i think it has just as much looks then the Leman Russ (IMHO) but its a more practical in design.

Note that obviously the tank specs are if the tank was actually designed. Either way its specs are better then a Russes.
